I don't have any horrifying stories but my 9 yo daughter has been somewhat fearful about getting her period ever since she saw my Tampax in the bathroom when she was 6 and I explained what they were for. I tried to be all body positive and chill about it, but she's pretty horrified by the idea.

That's what I was thinking. I read Weingarten's piece when it first came out, and those situations are clearly not about parents who make a conscious decision to leave their kids in the car for a few minutes. Two completely different issues, so I'm not sure why this piece even referred to that one.
