California, in general, but especially the south, has substantial Mormon populations. Fun fact: Mormons founded San Bernardino. Then subsequently abandoned it (i.e. it's not our fault).

Mordor….

Ha. I wouldn't say Satanists. If anything, Mormons tend to have an affinity for Catholics because of some nitty gritty stuff that tends to put both religions at doctrinal odds with Protestants and evangelicals.

You'd be surprised how much proximity to an LDS meetinghouse has little bearing on likelihood of getting preyed upon by missionaries. Demography unwittingly plays the largest role.

It's actually a surprisingly decent show. BYUtv has worked at being less overtly LDS and more broadly family-focused in recent years.

Growing up in Orange County, I always felt the same way. :)

Bear in mind SLC is less than half LDS, though Church culture still plays an inordinately large role in the area.

Here we go!

Agreed, but my wife hasn't caught the vision. "Love me… but don't show me."

Ha. I think the first Singles Ward was actually pretty well-written and amusing, but it was all downhill from there. Have you seen the more recent stable of dramas? Not too bad.

As an active Mormon and one who went on a mission and did the whole thing, I find Mormon "cinema" highly bemusing. I used to work at Deseret Book, a chain of LDS-focused bookstores, and became woefully familiar with the dreck churned out by aspiring producers and directors.

Same here. It appears Ron attempted to get them to hook up.

I just wanted them to cover Wilco songs and be done with it.

Correction, LucasFilm IS based in the Presidio and during the original Star Wars years, everything was run out of Skywalker Ranch in Marin County.

It's not THAT big of a cop out, but I think it's a minor one. Schur is on the record saying they actually investigated such possibilities in the real world. The NPS actually has its regional office in Omaha, which was referenced in the episode. Pawnee isn't nearly as big as Omaha (a cut scene from the finale has been

I might be some kind of jerk, but I still hope for something intense at the end, such as the oft-posited theory that the Mother is dead and Ted has been telling his kids this whole story in memory of her. It'd be harsh, but it'd be poignant, especially since the Mother has already lost a love. Parallelism.

Yeah, but even HIMYM actually shows the episodes to an audience. Given the structural nature of the show, filming live won't work, but they do sit an audience down and have them watch the finished episode, so I wouldn't give HIMYM full laugh track status, even if the laughter isn't recorded simultaneously as the

Just love how bold Nirvana was with their Unplugged - covers, B-sides, etc. How many mainstream hits did they even perform? Two?
