I played for about 30 minutes and quickly realized I’m gonna have to be in just the right mood to put up with the narrator. BUT, it is a mood I’m occasionally in so I still think I’ll get some enjoyment out of Biomutant, it’ll just be a “when the stars are aligned and I want to be whimsied-to-death”.

I’m the same type of gamer as your friend. I hear people saying “vote with your wallets” in a reaction to overly-busy open world games. But, I like them, so yeah I’m voting with my wallet by buying them.

I am so excruciatingly bad at this game that this is all a non-issue for me. If any particular run lasts more than 30 to 45 minutes it’s a really good one for me. The 1st boss still kills me but I count getting there a triumph.

I guess incompetence has its benefits...

Well said! I wish everyone could see the wisdom of your second paragraph especially.

Everyone has a different threshold that FPS has to reach before they can enjoy themselves. Some people are fine with 30, others with 60+, others need 144+ or they feel upset. Whenever someone tries to tell someone else their preference is “wrong” then they’re assuming everyone values things the same way they do, and

For me gaming is all about fun and doing something that brings you joy, so whether that’s doing a souls-like on hardest difficulty settings or playing a hidden-object game then if it’s making you happy then good for you! (One exception: if you’re a griefer who likes to cause suffering in others as an end-goal

Yeah as an older gamer I felt that take on the protagonists was quite ageist. As a long-time avid gamer now in his late 50's I appreciate getting the relatively rare chance to play a JRPG with an older protagonist rather than being perpetually stuck playing teens / very young adults. We tend to just be kindly mentors

I’ve cut the cord, and it won’t end up being much cheaper if you do add in live tv costs on top of all the other premium channels. For me, I don’t care about live TV so I’m saving lots of money.

A 3rd person option would be great, especially because you can make a great looking character and some of the outfits you end up cobbling together are very fun.

Exactly! This is the kind of game that is more enjoyable if you bring your imagination into the mix rather than just being a passive consumer of content.

Or one discovers that what is frustrating to others is fun for oneself, and gets much enjoyment out of the very same game that annoys others.

Despite its general jankiness and abundance of fetch quests, I still find myself having lots of fun in FO76, especially now that Wastelanders is out. There’s a huge amount to do, exploration is interesting, and plenty of stories to go through that paint a larger picture of the people in the area both before and after

Speaking in general, it isn’t cool to worry about being cool.
