To be honest, I don’t dislike the way Disc 2 is set up. After the group’s discovery of the Eldridge, the scope of the story because so grand that it completely overwhelms the characters, and the narration conveys that sense of being crushed by the immensity of events.

I have confidence in Ansel being able to deliver a fantastic game, but it’s a let-down that the huge cliffhanger at the end of the first game will not see a resolution. Or maybe in 15 years from now?

Best. Trailer. Ever.

Saga Frontier was the first Square game to disappoint me. A lot of brilliant ideas, but mediocre execution. You also think there’ll be a final storyline to wrap up the seven arcs, but nope. It’s a RPG in which you play seven short stories. (Asellus’ was the best though. ;) )

It’s both beautiful and odd. The call back to the old manual from The Legend of Zelda is amazing, but The Binding of Isaac initially went out of its way to get you started with no more than barebone information about the game. I’m surprised they’re the ones to go out of their way with an instruction manual.

I loved E.V.O., but I’m appalled to find out they changed the name from ‘The Theory of Evolution’ to ‘Search for Eden’ for the U.S. release. :(

Point taken. But we nonetheless live in a golden age of indie game development. If you’re going to put all that work into a romhack, maybe you should consider going the distance and making your own kick ass game.

Prison is inherently a political thing, and I can see how it’s a nightmare to address that in a game. That the devs are open in discussing that challenge is good. It’s hard to get it right, but at least we can have a conversation about it.

You will understand Suikoden 2's story easily without having played the first, but it’s set in the same world than the first, three years later, and it has a number of returning supporting characters (the appeal of the Suikoden series is that you see only a fraction of the world in each game, and they keep expanding

It’s stupid for Nintendo to go after people who love them, but I hope these creators take the hint and instead give us kickass indie games of their own creation. Don’t waste your efforts on the games of a company that’s notoriously hostile to fan content; create your own amazing games!

We obviously had (and still have to quite an extent) a problem with the objectification of women in fantasy art. But I don’t want the remedy to this to be the end of eroticism in fantasy art though. Can we blow the door open on this and have crazy diverse fantasy art that’s sometimes sexy and erotic, instead of

Eiichiro Oda achieves through sleep deprivation what normal people should achieve through drugs.

It could be worse: it could be Leia and Luke.

Resident Evil 4 nailed down the formula for the Action Movie game. There’s no other way I can put it.

You suck, Nintendo. You could have cashed in on a remake of this 24-year-old game on the GBA, on the original DS, on any of the Virtual Consoles, or even on the 3DS. You chose not to. Let the fans who love your game be. This is not copyright protecting creativity - this is copyright killing it.

Metroid 2 was my introduction to the series and one of my favourite games on the original Game Boy. It’s a shame Nintendo never gave us a remake. It’s a great game that has aged poorly in its original form because of the small screen and its lack of a map system, but it has a terrific atmosphere. Nintendo can bitch

I was in my early 20s with it came out in North America. I bought it on launch.

Whoa, has the original been out that long already?

They forgot “Fuck the rest of our employees”. :(
