Truth be told, as brutal as pirates could be in the day, officers on merchant and navy ships were hardly better. Bloodshed was less common that most people think however. It was common for merchant crews to surrender or capture their own officers at the sight of a pirate ship, and many would choose to join pirates.

If *my* child did that, I would be secretly very impressed with him pulling off such a stunt. His game console would be confiscated for a few months though. ;)

I always thought that the best secret twist ever to a GTA game would be to have the zombie apocalypse happen halfway through. Rockstar doesn't hype it, doesn't tell anyone, and 15 hours into the game - BAM! Zombies everywhere, and the remainder of the game is survival horror.

So, it looks like Dark Souls 2 hates me as much as Demon's Souls did. Which is to say, the game is gritty, unforgiving, and something I am entirely no good at. Director Miyazaki (Edit: Tanimura, not Miyazaki) stated that where the core theme of Dark Souls was "Humanity," this time, the core theme of Dark Souls 2 is

Now playing

You have no idea of the rasp fascination this music inspired in me as a kid. Zelda was the game no one would let me play because it was "too complicated for kids". I didn't get to actually sit down and play it for real until I was almost 12 (not having a NES at home didn't help). The intro to that game and the music
