It’s a parody of the movie; that it was intended as a political attack on someone else does not change the nature that it is, in fact, a comment on the original work.

Didn’t Spielberg say once something like he would let Lucas edit any of his works without any oversight or veto?

New York City already had free vaccination and other health services (and ultra-orthodox are heavy users of those social services), so not sure why this happened.

Most of the hipsters in that area don’t have children, and come from whitebread suburban middle- and upper-class existences where they themselves were vaccinated.

“Have I mentioned George Lucas’s non-involvement? (Actually, I wouldn’t mind his involvement as an editing consultant—he was always a great editor—but that’s about it.)“

From what little I’ve seen of Star Wars EU books, good riddance.

“Unpopular opinion - the original trilogy was just as bad/good as the prequels. The only reason why we oldies (25 and over) think that the prequels suck and the OT was the bee’s knees is because of nostalgia.”

Hey, remember the Ewoks? Remember how, in Return of the Jedi, the Rebellion hadn’t assembled a squad for the absolute most crucial job that needed to be done in order to destroy the Death Star until like five minutes before their attack was about to commence”

Right, and don’t forget family obligations, including caring for children (and not just your own).

For some reason I find the “poor people are lazy” myth (as annoying as it is) less annoying than the hipster/yuppie messianic “all these ignorant poor people need is my profound wisdom on fresh vegetables and then all will be well” types.

Sure, I’ve done it a lot. It sounds like you were at a bad store; you can’t extrapolate that to all convenience stores or bodegas.

“My wife and I work a combined total of about 130 hours per week. I put in about 50 and she puts in about 80.”

Ehh, the whole food desert theory has some pretty glaring flaws and reeks of classism (not accusing you specifically, but a lot of people who push the idea don’t spend too much time in these neighborhoods). The research that seemed to prove the “food deserts” made some assumptions that didn’t hold up in later studies.

I haven’t seen it but in theory you should be able to get a pretty precise number through sampling enough widely-dispersed groups.

“And something needs to happen on the end of corporate restaurant managers - learn to say the word no to customers. Have a spine.”

When I was a kid the pizza places near me (in Queens) used to sell dough if you asked. Since the owners have all changed from first-generation Italian to first-generation Mexican they might have different policies.

Based on how a lot of student government members think, it’s kneejerk liberal posturing and a cowardly fear of having their feelings hurt.

I thought the suggestion was that it’s staffed by non-New Yorker transplants, or “New Yorkers.”

If someone with violent tendencies entered my establishment with a holstered gun I’d probably just let it go.

I might blot, if only to prevent spilling orange grease on my tits.”
