The judge would have been given more information than us; we have no idea about what $300,000 means to this guy. There are like 15,000 people in Saudi Arabia who are technically “prince” or “princess,” who knows this guy’s exact financial situation.

What I found offputting was the scene in the ad where she’s mocking how her employees dress. Not cool for a boss.

I am a big fan of contraception personally, but I don’t get this criticism; it’s part of their theology. It’s probably not going to change. Why dismiss all the good work they do simply because you disagree with them on one or two issues? They’re not against it out of malice, they’re against it because of their

It’s pretty conclusively shown that women (in the US at least) are far more privileged than men by the penal system.

Not sure what the cause of action is, unless South Carolina has some weird statute. If you don’t get hepatitis, and you didn’t know you even had a chance of it, then what injury did you suffer?

I think you kind of need the religion to maintain peace. Picture your best cool women friends. Now picture living with them. All the time.

I would definitely like to be on a jury (and being on a grand jury would be kind of cool). I would probably (but not definitely) get bumped from most juries because I am (technically at least) a lawyer.

His problem is that he had a face that women like but men want to punch. Kind of like Bradley Cooper.

I am 39. I have never been called for jury duty. Kind of disappointed.

The scientists made a prediction based on scientific data that turned out to be wrrong. Convicting them was a travesty of justice; there is no legitimate case to be made for it. It was insane.

And yet the U.S. doesn’t have the kind of widespread, far-right violence you see in Europe, even Western Europe.

What Le Pen said.

France doesn’t. Neither do several other countries in Europe. The exceptions to free speech in the United States deal with imminent threats of violence — “There’s Bob over there, let’s beat him up!”

Question: why the hostility?
