Prude.

No, the argument is a bit more complicated than that; their argument is that “marriage” is something different than “same sex marriage,” so that the historical idea of a fundamental right to marriage does not include it.

I don’t think they care. Scalia is biased by his Catholicism, and Thomas is a true believer in state’s rights.

I agree, it shouldn’t. We are debating a side issue, over the historical concept of marriage, not whether it’s a good idea to follow that concept, whatever it is.

Yes, I may be overstating the case: there is polygamy in the Old Testament (though it usually is portrayed in a somewhat negative light).

“I don’t understand how the “traditional marriage” argument managed to come about. Marriage in the Bible is wildly different from the marriage structure we have in place in the United States today.”

“The other is that a bunch of suburban busybodies with literally nothing else to do hounded a woman out of a job she needed. “

They probably could have handled it more sensitively, but I’m a little confused here; if she has been unable to attend a full day of classes a quarter of the time, and they are unable to provide homeschooling, then what are they supposed to do?

I skimmed through the judge’s order, and find nothing to support that weird argument. The father’s argument is weak enough without just making up additional stuff.

What if you’re a murderous sociopath whose greatest gift is killing unsuspecting, innocent people?

Yep. They suck, too.

I don’t think there can be any doubt at this point that tech and programming is often a hostile environment for women, and that should be addressed, but I’ve noticed a lot of people pushing coding careers for women frequently aren’t themselves programmers and tend to overestimate the appeal of the jobs.

Ugh, I have been planning for months to go completely off artificial sweeteners, but I cannot resist the temptation when faced with it. Right now I’m down to only splenda and stevia, but I want to get out of those, too, and it’s frustrating but I just need something sweet to drink and not gain weight.

At least one Florida college has water moccasins living on campus. Near walking paths.

An international organization went into Mexico and got an order from a Mexican court to bring the girl to America. How is this America’s fault?

The trial was in Mexico, actually. A US court would have likely ordered a DNA test.

Back in my day we just called it impertinence.

“Yes, it is true, Niall has written several things before”

It depends on the rationale for those views. Libertarians are pretty much against anti-discrimination laws in general, not necessarily because they hate the people those laws try to protect (though some clearly are). I personally support those kinds of laws, but I’m unwilling to just assume those who don’t are acting

Because you disagree with his views? So do I, but I’m not going to assume they spring from some inherent terribleness.
