I did: I wrote "you can put reasonable limitations on where you can carry firearms while not infringing on the fundamental right to own one." That's what the Supreme Court held in Heller; the state can't absolutely forbid gun ownership, but it can place reasonable restrictions on when and where you can carry them.

They were absolutely expelled for what they said; the "atmosphere" argument doesn't really hold water, first of all because in this case they didn't publicly chant the idiotic statements or direct it at anyone specific, and secondly because the "atmosphere" argument requires repeated behavior.

OU is an arm of the government; they can't escape certain requirements simply by passing a code of conduct that bars speech they don't like. Courts have had no problem striking down public university policies that conflict with the Constitution, and this absolutely is a First Amendment issue: this governmental

A code of conduct is trumped by the Constitution; if you are a public university you can't punish someone for the content of their speech.

Yes, it absolutely does mean that in terms of consequences from a governmental entity. Otherwise "freedom of speech" becomes meaningless.

Those kinds of records are protected in most cases, but here she is the one suing them—when you make the decision to sue someone you lose some of those privacy protections. Her lawyers must have informed her this would happen.

You can't subpoena yourself though; there's no mechanism to do it.

That's rough; I can relate (a bit). Recently, and in the space of 6 days, I went from being diagnosed with kidney cancer to having my entire kidney removed. Surgery was 10 days ago and I'm still recovering. It's all gone so fast I haven't really had time to process it.

Yes, definitely. No breeds should be left alone with a child, though some are very child friendly (Newfoundlands, beagles, and golden retrievers seem to handle child poking and prodding well).

Actually, it's being around dogs my whole life and being able to read their body language and behavior. Every bull terrier I've encountered has put off aggressive posture. Even the one in the video is clearly tense.

Right, that's why I said I didn't have a problem with the other pit bull breeds (e.g., Staffordshire terriers, who I love), only the bull terrier.

Well I really wasn't talking about this dog specifically; my comment was about the breed generally, and more accurately about my own feelings about the breed.

Very cute, but I'll be honest, bull terrier is the only dog breed that make me nervous. Every other breed I'm comfortable around, including the other pit bull ones, but for some reason it got in my head to be very wary around bull terriers.

Yep, I responded to the wrong poster when I posted that. I agree with what you said.

White privilege is a thing, but it is not a get out of death row free card. The majority of people on death row in Arizona are white.

High security prison may be safe, sort of, towards your physical health but it will destroy your soul. Imagine living in a room the size of your bathroom for 23 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, for the rest of your life.

Stop it. Nobody gets coddled by the U.S. criminal justice system. It is barbaric towards everyone.

If the book is published despite the fact that she never wanted it to be then....so what? Does seem that letting her keep her privacy is more important than stopping the publishing of a book.

Huh? They're against HIV prevention? Where is that?

They believe that killing a fetus is equivalent to murder. Since they believe in that, any of their moral calculus is going to result in "don't murder." I'm sure they're quite aware that the women's lives are going to be harder with a baby, but they would argue that alleviating that is not worth killing another
