IIRC all that guy did was run the backgrounds through an algorithm that smooths the pixels. Square-Enix apparently has a lot of the large asset saves available to them, but for some reason did not put them in the release.

Don’t worry, I play on PC so Square-Enix has decided to release a year or two later and hope I buy this twice.
