Yes, you wouldn’t be able to survive as an American driving the American way in Germany. The Autobahn educates people how to drive, and there is proper driving school where the goal isn’t to teach you how to operate a car, but how to behave. You learn how to operate a car on the way to the right behavior. My first

If it takes you 10km to pass them, then why do you feel the need to pass them at all? Perhaps they are moving too slow for you? Are you somehow more important then they are that you need to get around them? Are you driving 54 and they are only driving 50? How dare they dictate how fast you drive!

The Left lane is for passing & emergency vehicles, in Michigan. I’ve actually been pulled over before by the state police (no ticket, just a warning) for driving in the left lane when no other vehicles were around and told me that first line. I’ve also had the amusing experience during heavy morning traffic on 75,

I guess you misunderstood what I meant. English not being my native language might’ve contributed to that.

You would have been fine if you didn’t immediately switch back into the left lane. If you stayed your course (in the center lane) until you caught up to the next car in front of you, you would have just been “keeping right-passing left”. By moving back into the left with no one directly in front, you actually broke

1. In this situation, you generally do not need to move over. You’re not in the “passing” lane. There is one situation where I think you should , but this is opinion: the lane to your right is at roughly the same speed as you AND you’re blocking a lot of people in your current lane who want to go faster.

2. HOV should

If you’re driving fast in the left lane and there is a slow driver in front of you, it is illegal to pass someone on the right, even if that right lane is actually a middle lane and completely empty.
