Probably the best line of the season this episode:
Gloria: "Don't you feel bad?"
Jay: "What? About not sharing this 30-year-old scotch with Phil? He mixes it with 7-Up…it's a hate crime!"

Story Observations:

Does that mean stepfathers and stepdaughters should date if the father and mother divorce? Nope. Weird.

I don't know what this writer is talking about. There is no way they are actually going to pursue a relationship between Haley and Manny. That would be disgusting.

Crazy next episode synopsis: Julia and Joel decide to take a couple's retreat to Napa, and of course hire pregnant Amber to watch Victor and Sidney. When they get to Napa, they find Sarah their drunk with her ex-husband John Corbett. Joel texts Hank, as the two of them are poker buddies now, and Hank drives up to

Takeaway questions:
Was this the first time we ever saw Millie hold Iada?
Who watches Nora all day while Kristina runs the school for Kids Bopz extras?
What was Sarah doing, apparently alone, in Napa?
Who was Adam on a business trip with/for? I thought they were broke. What was he possibly accomplishing without Crosby?

First off, the reason Bravermans are missing is because of budget cuts. Each lead character can only appear in x number of episodes this season, so that's why we are seeing absences and time being filled with Ruby and Sandy. The final episodes of this show will be full throttle Bravermans. Anyhow, my thoughts…

Funny episode overall, it flowed well and the writing was on-par. I'm not loving the Meg Griffin approach that Modern Family is taking this season with Alex. It seems a little unrealistic given the great episode with Alex last season where they revealed some seriously deep issues. Other than that, this was the best

Crazy synopsis for the remainder of the show: Dylan ditches Max for Crosby, who finally dives deep into his midlife crisis, and runs off to Europe with his new underage girlfriend. Max declares he doesn't care and calls Dylan "sluttier than Haddie," yet Kristina is enraged and opens a new school, as she is now

Perfectly put.

@west_coast_lass:disqus. His demeanor seems to be a little insincere. I don't think it's so much a problem with him but just the way he is. And to be fair, it's pretty awkward to talk about your new-girlfriend's divorce while she sits and cries about it.

That's interesting. Wow. They are doing a good job in that regard.

True, but is it really fair to consider Ruby, Sandy, Chris, Nora, Natalie and Otis the Dog characters? @avclub-f423423863960a21f2bb75f5095dc6fb:disqus brings up a good point, and that said, the writers are doing a good job.

Same here, that was great. I also really liked when Sarah said "so who is he?" and Hank, off camera, just says "He? Who? What are we talking about here?" (Or something like that.)

Haha, so true.

I thought this episode was on the weak end. I like when writers decide to not overstuff episodes with every character, but this episode featured Amber, Drew, Sarah, Hank, Julia, Joel, Zeek and Max - that's it! That's too many missing
characters. (FYI, I don't consider Ruby or Sandy to be main characters.)

Hm, solid episode, not too interesting. Seems like the only thing that changed in 3 months is that Amber got bigger. But still solid. Some observations:

Good episode, but they should basically start calling this show "The Dunphys." The time and production they are putting into their plots are far and away more intensive than the others, and they are committed this season to having this family be together for every event, even though the kids are all 16 and up, and

I think teachers should not be called by their first name by their students…

Completely agree. Everyone and every family has problems. You have to defend your child — they can't be the punching bag just because other kids at school are going through divorces with their parents.
