@cobrajoe: Keeping the signals away from the brain is exactly the reason it's on the bottom of the phone. In fact, I was surprised to see a competitor with the antenna at the top. I thought it was mandated by the FCC.

@thejimmylittle: Based on my experience, it's the latter, because the latter is part of a phone that gets and holds signals better in areas of low signal strength.

A balanced and honest article about the iPhone 4? ON GIZMODO? Has hell frozen over?

@geolemon: I was speaking to the general antenna strength. iPhone 4 is the first phone in a decade to get and maintain a usable signal at my parents' house. It's definitely an improvement. Was there a trade-off? Yeah. Will they come up with a better design that mitigates that trade-off in the future? Steve said as

I loved my TI-89. It actually helped me (somewhat) understand calculus and physics in high school because I could concentrate on the concepts rather than the math. Plus, I could play Super Mario Bros.

@Dorian Arbos: Nice to know someone else gets it. Thanks for chiming in.

@CaptainJack: Your facts are 100% correct, but you're failing to understand the distinction I was getting at. This mess is 100% my fault not because it's factually inaccurate but because I failed to be clear.

@Cabs21: No, you don't know how businesses contract vendors.

@jubertlowe23: You are not making the distinction between contractor and owner.

@Fuzzy Logic: I'm not confused; you're not making the distinction between manufacturing contractor and owner. HTC is Google's manufacturing and tech support contractor. Google and HTC have chosen to highlight this partnership. But the Nexus One is a Google phone.

@golferal: I never said it wasn't manufactured by HTC. I'm refuting that it's an HTC phone. Google designed it. Google sells it. It's a Google phone.

@jubertlowe23: HTC did not design the Nexus One. Google did. HTC does not sell the Nexus One. Google does.

@Fuzzy Logic: No, because Nike didn't design it and isn't selling it and didn't pay you to put the sticker on it.

@golferal: So is the iPhone 4 a Samsung phone because Samsung manufactures the A4 chip for Apple? No. The Nexus One is a Google phone, sold by Google, whether it's made by HTC or the Underpants Gnomes.

Apple's competitors poked fun in ads and blog posts, but Apple's the bad guy for calling them on it? These guys gave as good as they got.

@xd.Balls: It's maddening that people are somehow offended by "don't like it, don't buy it". After two weeks of beating this dead horse, it's well past the time to send it to the glue factory.
