Cheddar Cliffs... I am so there.

They are "piliers". Each one has it's own name (Nord, Sud, Est, Ouest) and their own Flickr group.

I came here to say just this, so I guess I'll just add an upvote.

If you are in a pair of the old-style chain link handcuffs, you could bend your wrists around to get to your bracelet maybe, but that is why the hinged handcuff was developed; you cannot pivot your wrists.

So what protects the screen? Had it landed face down it would have been a different outcome.

No Dr. Manhattan jokes/pics/references? I am disappointed.

My first job (when I was 11) was in a cannery in Alaska, separating roe from guts. The pile of innards would slide down the chute in to a large catch basin and I'd pull out the eggs. Standing for 10 hours in ankle-deep ice-cold salmongutwater wasn't fun.

On my screen, the only part that is always smudged is the unlock bar area.

Or, if you don't keep your screen clean, all somebody has to do is look at the smudge/smear pattern and they and pretty well guess.

Film cameras are not "defunct technology".

Or you could just kick the backseat forward and out. Not a stealthy escape, but if the kidnappers went in for lunch or something...

I wonder if MESSENGER could provide any data?

LOL

I'd concur with your assessment that the vehicles shown were BMDs or possibly BMP (hard to tell from the video).

Exactly my question.

IANAEODS (I am not an EOD specialist) and yes, 1.8 tonnes of explosives is a lot, but I think it is a bit overdramatic to say it could have destroyed the entire city centre, or as Giz hyped it, the entire city.

Bubble wrap also works very well and could be even cheaper:
