That is correct. It’s weird. There were mock-ups and builds that don’t have the stripe, but once it came out, it only had the stripe. I think the shade of green looks just a bit off, especially over the hood, and I think the designers noticed it and forced the build combo to be restricted. Or maybe it was a plant

I don’t like that you can’t get that green without the stripes though.

The test drive? I know, I know, there is a return policy, but still... it’s a LOT of hassle to go through to just sit in one.

Now playing

Oh, yeah. Their parts costs and repair costs are SOOOO affordable.

That’s not so much a “test drive” as it is a “return window.” And just look up some of the articles recently published about how difficult it has been for some people to actually get their refunds after returning their vehicles.

I don’t think the folks at Tesla realize how “test driving” typically works. In the real world people go try out a bunch of cars in person and then decide which one they want to put money down on.

BTW, to take the RockAuto example one step further, compare say a 2012 Benz E class with a 2012 Tesla Model S. While I can buy a bulb for the Tesla, the common mechanical wear items’ stock is much, much thinner for the Model S than the E-Class. E-class will have 10-15 SKUs for something like a half-shaft or a motor or

Yeah, the analysts on CNBC are going to read this as “an admission of defeat” on the gross margin front. Nobody cuts their sales channel to “prop up” operating margins. Well, nobody sane anyway.

Stock is trading down over 3% after hours. Closing stores strikes me as a drop in demand and/or cash flow issues, especially with a $920 million debt due Friday.

The problem with Tesla is that they have “in housed” so much of the car— no outside supplier of drive motors, door mechanisms (a huge failure item), seat track motors... all Tesla-built.

There are people who buy cars sight unseen? Even $100K ones?

Elon: “Let’s double down on the parts of the business where we really, really suck”.

If I had any stock in TSLA or was owed a “refundable” deposit, I would find this very troubling.

You expect me to spend more than $35,000 on a car I can’t touch first, let alone test drive?  No thank you.

This. The concept of “you don’t need to pay attention until suddenly you do” is the most insane and nonsensical idea I’ve ever heard. You can’t possibly know you need to pay attention unless you’ve already been paying attention. It doesn’t matter if they warn the driver. Either the human always pays attention and the

I used to play games online with a guy who had a bad battery in his fire alarm, and I could hear it beeping over his microphone. I asked him about it and he said “oh, I didn’t even notice”. 6 months later I was playing with him again, and I could still hear it.

Exactly. Those level 1-3 are useless and should be outlawed.

exactly this. And what are they going to do when the driver isn’t paying attention? Disengage the system? Of course not. It’s just going to beep louder. People are too fucking dumb, selfish, ignorant, or whatever for this technology.

What is autopilot for?
