the problem wouldn’t actually be solved until robust AI is realized and solves it for us.
What a dumb and thoughtless take. I’m sorry I know you get your jollies from spewing “America bad” nonsense, but try to get your head of your ass for once. Canada doesn’t have high speed rail. Are they a third world country or are there differences between US/Canada and Europe/Asia countries that make it less…
17 years is alot of time to sort it out
Yeah its kind of like how people will say ban plastic or go after the plastic producers with any thought to what would be needed to replace single use plastic in our economy.
Yeah but the challenges for EV big rigs are a lot harder than for EV passenger cars. The heavy weight, range limitations, and charging times of EV passenger cars can be tolerated, but these challenges would severely limit how much weight could be haul and would significantly increase transit times, increasing the…
Considering how practically everything is delivered by trucks (long haul or last mile) and the fact that there are no practical zero/low emission solutions for trucking in the near future it seems kind of premature to set a deadline for a ban.
Until we have true autonomous cars I think we can stop making all these hyperventilating predictions of the future of AI. If we can’t get AI to drive a car on it’s own, I don’t think we need to worry about the “Singularity” or AI taking over the world.
Except that it is especially if it’s close cousins (1st or 2nd).
Jeez give it a rest. It’s clear he was talking about genetic diseases and being a recessive carrier for one.
There are no high speed rail lines in Canada (which is one less than the US). Is that because of Canadian exceptionalism?
It’s also that the US is a lot less dense than most of Europe so it would only make sense in the Northeast Corridor, where we have our only high speed rail the Acela, which isn’t that fast for most of it’s journey, but hopefully that will improve with planned infrastructure upgrades to tracks and choke points.
There are no high speed rail lines in Canada (which is one less than the US). Is Canada incapable of big projects or are there geographic, economic, and population differences that make it less viable in the us and Canada.

I’m no musk fan, but I agree that there are a lot of “Musk bad” articles on this site with unreasonably criticisms (which I don’t understand because there are plenty legitimate reasons to criticize Musk). There are a lot of rabid anti musk articles on Jalopnik, but this isn’t it. This article is actually pretty…
I thought the 4runner was supposed to get a major refresh in 2023
I had a 2nd gen that was great looking and one of my all-time favorite cars I’ve owned.
I had a 2nd gen pathfinder and 100% agree with you. Good off road despite the unibody, could handle deep snow like a champ, but had a bad problem with rust. Great SUV, back when SUVs (even unibody ones) were SUVs. Loved the hell out of that car.
The first through third generations were body on frame SUVs;
They would still be heavier than their ICE equivalents and you can only cut so much weight without reducing safety or making them impractically small. Anything smaller than a 4 door sedan is not practical for most people.
