It is strange to feel relieved by a statistic this grim. I've been turning to feminist media more lately (for solidarity), because I feel so pissed and trodden upon. Thanks again for taking the time to give me a little piece of mind.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate this explanation. It makes me feel so much less crazy. I understand the pragmatics of separating the statistics so that you can make movement. I think this could be audience specific, though (for a documentary like this you want it to appeal to a mass audience). But you…
I personally would prefer an accountability process, wherein the person has to publicly acknowledge the harm and do intense therapy and some sort of re-education around consent. This definitely wouldn't work for all offenders, but I think in certain situations it could be healing for all parties involved, survivor,…
I really appreciate the fact that you are calling out the various forms of sexual assault. It's like "if the penis didn't go in, it didn't happen."
That's for rape. But the quote was "sexual assaults" which is a whole litany of behaviors.
I think we need to stop using the terms "forced penetrative sex" and "sexual assault" interchangeably, because it discounts a lifetime of harm for many survivors and undermines the path towards a culture of consent.
Maybe I wasn't clear initially. I get so triggered around the topic. I think we need to stop using "forced penetrative sex" and "sexual assault" interchangeably. I don't think it's the path to a culture of consent.
But do these surveys include non-consensual groping? Because that's sexual assault. Or is it just forced "sex" be it oral, anal, or vaginal?
I don't think it's implausible. I just think it is a larger number of offenders that have sexually assaulted. If you think about how many people get groped, get too drunk too consent, etc. Sexual assault is bigger than P in V or P in A sex.
"We learn that less than 8 percent of men commit more than 90 percent of sexual assaults." Where are they getting that statistic? It seems like it should be more than 8% given that so many campus assaults are never reported.
According to the article he also has a garbage fly tattoo on his eye and a bear on on his foot (he's often barefooted), because jokes.
the tattoo artist must have howled with laughter after that guy left.
Well that does make me feel a little better. What a sicko. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I agree with you on the posting stuff hierarchy issue. Take care.
Are you serious!? I wish I had scrolled down a little further before I responded. How in the ever loving fuck does that guy have posting cred and I am perpetually gray!? Guess he loves how triggering it is for those who have been date raped, to go feel all those feelings again when empathizing with this poor girl who…
I suggest that you seek out a Transformative Justice circle in your community (if available). If you feel comfortable telling me where you live I would be happy to help you locate one nearby. Most of these circles' believe that the criminal justice system does more harm than good when it comes to accountability and…
You're not wrong about how debilitating it is. I struggled with it for 10 years and whenever I left the house, I would get this overwhelming feeling that all anyone could of see me was my acne. Cognitively I knew it wasn't actually true, but I just felt so hideous. I think bad acne triggers a kind of body dysmorphia…
Yes!! Her products made a huge difference for me, too. I gave up on topicals at age 25 and went on Accutane. The result was a big improvement in my skin, but a year or so later I started to breakout again here and there. Occasionally I would still have a really bad breakout that would affect large portions of my…
I'm a sip away from idiocy at all times.
I saw blue and black until I scrolled down to this post and it was definitely white and gold here. Looked away for a sec to take a sip of my beer, and this post was blue and black again! What the hell is happening?
