Aside from adding unnecessary weight, the Miata is Mazda’s only RWD platform so they aren’t going to develop a RWD biased AWD system just for the Miata which means it’s going to be FWD biased like the rest of their cars and before you know it we end up with a FWD Miata before it gets discontinued and comes back a…
You are correct. I heard about the transmission issue a while after I got my ‘16 and had been doing some autocross by then. Luckily I’ve had no issue with mine, unfortunately I’ve passed the mileage limit for the warranty *knocks on wood*.
5'11 3/4" and I fit perfectly (unless I wear a helmet with the top up), guess you are more legs than I am. Unless the 124 has a different thicker seat than the Miata.
Why though? Barring physical limitations, the manual is so easy to drive and adds more to the experience. Especially in a Miata.
Edit: Also, if you’ve driven a 3rd gen NC, the Fiata uses the transmission from that.

Username checks out.
Wow, yours is a true weekend car. Mine is my only car so it just passed 60K two weeks ago. With how little use you get I’d say keep your NB.
Exactly. Regarding the horn, that’s a good idea.
I mean, ideally yes. I got too much shit.
Dooooooooooooooo it.
Glad to hear it’s not that much better than the ND1, I was kind of miffed and tempted when I first heard about the updates but between the 50K miles at the time, fixed hail damage, 3 years of wear, and money spent on small upgrades I just couldn’t convince myself to even go look at the new ones for fear of being…
I daily a 2016 with a 40 mile round trip commute, had a few close calls from people not paying attention but you can zoom past most people.
I actually appreciate that 1/3 opening of the door, stops it just before getting to the shelves in the garage that it would otherwise crash into. I need a bigger garage.
Great to hear you are making solid progress, hope to have you back to 100 soon :)
