My life is brilliant
*gently rubs floor*
I took it as wearing a diaper myself, not changing one. I haven’t been into sitting around in my own filth since I was around 18 months.
“Human” (or, if you want to really fuck with them “cyborg”)
Colorism manifests in such interesting and ugly ways. It took me until adulthood to fully embrace my darker skin color. My family is Caribbean, so colorism is deeply ingrained in their psyche. I’ve mostly broken free of that mindset and love my skin color and kinda in contrast to you, hope my future children have my…
Ughhhhh.... this so much! I’ve gone in on people associating Jamaica with weed. Nevermind that my grandfather was a cop and busted people on weed there. Noooo.... apparently all Jamaicans smoke weed (and say “Irie” all day long).
This really read like an XO Jane article. I know that website is no more, but I had to keep checking my browser bar to make sure I was on Jez and not XO. At the least, I was waiting on the satire/sarcasm to appear. It did not.

I “love” how some people can’t understand the concept that some brown people were born here, and sometimes their parents, and sometimes their parents’ parents. It’s as though everyone who’s not white is an immigrant (taking jobs, committing crime, etc.)
There have been a few interviews and articles about the cover art. I’m not saying I 100% buy what they’re trying to convey with the cover art, but I will say that this is one of those instances that it’s best not to judge the book by its cover.
That juxtaposition is unfortunate, but she also has no control over that.
It did. She looks more Indian in that picture.
I grew up in a predominantly white neighborhood. In junior high - the height of body awkwardness - was when I first realized my ass was larger than everyone else’s. I used to squeeze my cheeks together (like someone would squeeze their stomach in for a picture) thinking that would hide my derriere. Fortunately, in…
I doubt they’re helped any. It’s probably the last question - “Or are they just put on a plane and kicked in the ass on the way out?”
Yeah, I watched it a few years ago for the first time. I was unimpressed. I think I needed to have seen it when it came out, but even then, I think I would have just wanted to watch something else.
