Fair counterpoint. Hopefully these are all steps paving the way for a legitimate female F1 driver someday, though.

“…instead of trying to sponsor 2 or 3 in existing series?”

Unfortunately, in the world of motorsports, there aren’t enough women racers to get an accurate metric as to how they compete in the sport. Funneling money into their racing budgets, especially at earlier stages of their careers [karts, FF, etc.], might entice more younger girls to give it a go. Also, encourage

I understand the responses to my comment - including yours. I’ll need to learn more about Chadwick. But I also am a Shirley Muldowney and Leah Pritchett fan, both of whom didn’t (or don’t) need a segregated competition. Differences of course exist in the racing series yet one actually has female winners.

didn’t mean to reply to you. Sorry.

I appreciate your considered, and reasonable, response.

It’s bittersweet to imagine the W Series, which says the heart of its operation is “the firm belief that women can compete equally with men in motorsport,” as a support race for F1. The setup benefits the women driving by pairing them with such major racing events, but it also places the women’s division as a support

Jamie Chadwick IS racing in F3 Asia. Right now. You can watch her be off the pace of her team mates for several more races en route to a inevitable unimpressive mid-field placement.

lol. Not a fucking chance man. Jaime Chadwick won the W series and is a second a lap off her team mates in F3 Asia. She would be a firm zero point scoring backmarker in F2, and get lapped by her team mate in F1 nearly every race if she was fast enough to get past the 107% rule. How do you think that would look for

Lance Stroll would dominate Jamie Chadwick in a race. Seriously. Don’t kid yourself. Stroll Dominated Formula 3 Europe and won it in his first attempt. Chadwick had is a mid-fielder at best in the less competitive F3 Asian Championship. Even the worst F1 drivers on the grid are easily top 100 racing drivers in the

If the point is to bring attention to women drivers, the W series is MUCH better than just throwing sponsorship money at existing drivers.  Running an entire series for women draws a ton of press just on its own, and it allows them to control the running costs to actually put, what, 16 drivers in seats instead of

This is nothing but a positive. Getting more eyes in front of the racing series is the best way to build a fan base. And while F1 isn’t as big as it once was, it’s still the biggest show going.

Yeah, the women are asleep...

If you’re testing a 2020 Alfa Romeo F1 car, then yes.

Yes but they do it so politely.

Im glad someone else is shocked that LuLu Wang didn't receive a nod for best director. The scene where the protag and her grandmother are having a conversation while her cousin and his wife are awkwardly taking marriage pics in the bg was SUCH a great moment and framing device that illustrates the whole movie HNNGH

Or just, you know, A job

I’m only upset Awkwafina didn’t get nominated for her acting in The Farewell, otherwise I really think this is a great nominee list.

I don’t think Little Women has many new things to say after a hundred years, nor can I really think it’s that much better than any of the other numerous adaptations that have come before it.

Counterpoint: There only great movie nominated is ‘Parasite’, the rest are solidly in to the ‘pretty good’ to ‘meh’ range.
