Granted the layout is the same, but the RS4 version doesn’t need timing chain maintenance like it’s S4 little brother. The DI setup requires other maintenance like carbon cleaning, though.

Read up on the EV1 story and you may understand the hesitation with more context. GM was the first in this space (big company making a BEV) and it did nothing for them. Most people don’t even remember that car at all.

Mine made it to 189,000 and then puked it’s guts and took out several rod bearings along the way. I’m not a huge fan of the engine but I guess I my dislike is a touch irrational.

Please elaborate on what wasn’t great about it? And keep it to the RS4 V8, not the S4 4.2 which is not the same. Also, remember it debuted in 2006 in Europe.

These cars are closer to 625hp, unless the boost and/or fuel flow limits have changed recently.
