I agree. I planned to seriously consider a Bolt, which isn’t as capable a package as the Model 3, but it is cheaper. Now isn’t the time to replace my commuter car, so I guess I won’t get a BoltSo what is next up the price ladder...Tesla. I don’t want to buy a Tesla though.

“Smaller hoods will still kill and maim both and have done so for decades.”

Pretty much a non-issue. You both don’t need to deep-discharge a PHEV (it’s just going to turn on the ICE, you aren’t going to be stranded on the side of the road) and the software simply won’t LET you do it. That is why Prius batteries last a really, really long time, even when they were crappy NMH chemistry. The

You’re ignoring the fact that tall front ends are significantly deadlier to pedestrians and cyclists. We can also do multiple things at once. There’s no reason we can’t crack down on distracted driving and also discourage people from buying big, tall vehicles that are objectively more dangerous to others.

They did a good job making it look like a 3/4 sized Tahoe, which is admittedly a much better looking car than the old Traverse was.

This is a tough one to predict. Technically, this is a symptom that all Hybrids would experience, since hybrids are designed to go from 0-100% multiple times throughout the day. mHEVs go from 0-100% practically at every red light.

Yeah, how dare I advocate for a society where fewer people die unnecessarily.

Yeah, before they offered the extra inch of ground clearance and askid plate, my local school board would banned it from the Freedom Range Baby Jesus Elementary School carpool line as it would have been technically classified as LGBT literature... and I will make darn sure none of my kids (Chayne and Brylin). and

It’s kind of nice to see some kind of brand design used on more than just one vehicle. Like the good ol’ days. haha

Very much a relief that the Z71 package has been added. Now me and my children Tanlyeigh, Macaydan, Drandinn, and Briyannaxtin won’t have to worry when the school parking lot has leaves on it.

While there’s certainly added complexity in a plug in hybrid, it’s actually lower cost than a full-EV because it uses a far smaller battery and batteries are most expensive component on EVs (particularly for the increasingly bloated EVs playing the who’s-range-is-longer game in the US.) Plug in hybrids with a range of

So cheaper cars have the shortest inventory. Shocking, considering the brands have been pushing hard to sell more expensive product. Remember, the chip shortage meant manufacturers selling only more expensive models because of the fatter profit margins.

Lyft is cheaper than a cab, I don’t kn ow where you pulled this image from but it simply doesn’t exist in reality when gas in $3+ a gallon. hell I’ve NEVER seen taxi fare that doesn’t include a distance cost.

2. congratulations clearly you are some kind of super human that ignores safety but reality does not align with

1. I’m sorry but that’s a bald faced lie. I can’t even get a shared Lyft for less than $17 for my 4 mile bike ride (which doesn’t count tip) and you are trying to tell me I can get a cab for $10. you are not in reality right now.

fun fact, in large parts of the US you cannot walk next to a road because that is private property (with castle laws that can lead to you getting shot), similarly you can’t walk in the road either because many states actually define jaywalking as being in the road period. Bikes are also not feasible in all areas

Not to mention they have a much more reliable public transport network compared to the US.

Sounds like Houston, except it’s WORSE there. Inside the loop the posted speed limit is 55 mph, average speed barring traffic 90 to 100+ and I don’t just mean regular drivers, cops, bus drivers, etc. cruise along at that speed. Coming back from a Christmas party a few years ago around 11ish I was heading north to

Highway speeds are one thing, but on smaller streets, small changes in speed are even more important for pedestrian survival. Others matter more than self.

Death rate for pedestrians hit:
25 mph: 4.4% auto, 6.8% SUV / Pickup
30 mph: 6.8% auto, 10.4% SUV / Pickup
45 mph: 22.9% auto, 32% SUV / Pickup

But, we don’t make laws based on “well, some assholes are gonna ignore it anyway so why bother.”

There’s always going to be some idiot who drives down my street at 60 miles an hour. But getting everyone else to slow down a little makes a difference in a neighborhood full of kids.

Very happy to say my city is actually dropping speed limits. More and more of our neighborhoods are dropping from 25 to 20 mph.
