Next you know they’ll show their sinful ankles!

Preach!

I was sorta on board until I had a BMW with its creepily named GENTLEMAN MODE (I think some Lexuses have it, too). It’s a button that allows you to adjust the passenger seat by using the driver’s seat controls.

We have a Mercedes GLC300, and concur I don’t like the door-mounted controls.  Just feels like showing off for something that is more difficult to use...which seems to be an overall car-design theme that is so hot right now anyway.

It doesn’t really matter as long as it’s not here:

On the side of the seat definitely.

Seat-side is the only way to go. I don't want to have to contort my wrist backwards to mess with door-mounted seat controls

Well, they aren’t RELIABLE. Below average in used cars (dashboardlight.com) and consumer reports gives them a 57 out of 100 reliability score for 2020. At best they are average.

all i know is, i have a 20 impreza and live in los angeles county and it scrapes on shit every god damned day. you don’t have to go offroad to need the extra ground clearance. you just have to live in a crumbling city.

If you’ve experienced Northeastern city streets after an average winter, or I95 during summer construction season, the extra ground clearance can be most welcome, even without seeing any off road use.

I love dunking on unnecessary AWD and ground clearance as much as anybody, but there are circumstances where a Crosstrek would be a better vehicle for someone than a Corolla hatchback. I do agree though that most drivers would be better off with the lower operating costs of a Corolla. The EPA rated 6 MPG difference

They are still on display.  I went and looked, trying to argue their diagnosis, but there are almost no parts that would be re-used on a restored version of them.  Is it really the same car if its 98% new?

What was so depressing was GM said they were going to fix all of them, but after hoisting them out, they realized there was a few that were completely unsalvageable.

oooo a speedster :p

They also cost more specifically because people want them. You can charge more for something people actually seek out, whereas you’re lowering prices and putting cash on the hood to move sedans at all.

I’ve seen a lowered first-generation Tiguan driving around here before. Looked pretty good, actually. Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s others that could benefit from a drop.

Remember the Bowling Green Massacre!

Here’s that 1 millionth Corvette after it took a swan dive into the earth.
