Brave take. Electrification is the future. get used to it.

This assumes they would just replace the ICE engine with an electric motor in the same spot, which is dumb and inefficient. None of the existing driveline is required. No engine, no trans, no driveshaft, no diff. You put the electric motor in the rear in place of the diff. All of the space and weight that used to be

Easy. Batteries will go where the engine and transmission are located. The electric motor will fill the space vacated by the removal of the rear differential and fuel tank.

Exactly that. There’s a big difference between greasing the wheels to make favorable policies happen and handing some conspiracy-nut traitor a breaker bar to disassemble the whole damn thing, take the wheels off and yeet them off a cliff.

I agree. While it’s easy to say “but Toyota supports politicians from both the left and the right” the Big Lie isn’t just a difference of opinion about which policies are best for this country, it’s is an assault on democracy itself. Believing the Big Lie is delusional, but spreading the Big Lie as these politicians

AND why?  These states are very anti-union, even though it would benefit them greatly to be pro-union.  But red state residents bite their nose to spite their head constantly.

I’m not sure what your point is here. If some other company donates to foreign politicians that are actively working to undermine democracy, the peaceful transition of power, and good governance in their home nations, then those companies, American or not, can also get fucked.

What do those members of Congress provide to Toyota that it’s worth them dealing with this PR headache? As you point out, they're slinging money all over the place, so what exactly do they stand to lose by saying a politician who doesn't support democracy in America isn't getting cash?

Yep. The maps of where these reps live and where Toyota has plants is just going to be the meme of Pam holding identical pictures.

You could very easily grease both wheels - the democrats and the republicans without having to donate to those politicians that directly contributed to the Jan. 6th attach on Congress, and have actively worked to undermine our democracy.

I believe it is entirely appropriate to judge members of Congress on that single issue. Sedition is pretty straightforward.

As a foreign company doing business in the US, they know that extra scrutiny is warranted. They placed their bets; as Americans, we get to spin the wheel.

No no, it’s entirely appropriate to judge an elected member of Congress solely on the basis of whether or not they choose to uphold democratic principles.

More uninspired than ugly. It’s not offensive but it’s a serious contender for Meh Car <any day of any week>

The Cavalier has existed in Mexico this whole time.

Here’s the thing, I don’t agree that the world’s wealthiest man shouldn’t receive food stamps or other assistance..

Nope, that’s exactly my point - that we (and they) view “self-interests” differently. They place more value on god, gays, guns, abortion, blah blah blah than they do on food stamps for the poor, even if they are the ones on food stamps. And the only way that changes is if they can vote for their own food stamps (or

Someone came up with the argument recently that it’s “economic populism” vs “cultural populism”. The Democrats are firm believers in economic populism, as in tax the rich, increase subsidies for the poor, expand on opportunities for advancement, etc.

This is absolutely true. I can save money on food and buy pork shoulder for $1.79 from Costco because:
