The good news is that those power specs are identical to the regular AWD version that the US will get in a few months, so I’d say the US is STILL getting the fastest ID.4, just not the fastest-looking ID.4.

As someone who actually studies the economic effects of regulations at the microeconomic level, I can tell you that there certainly are examples of the EPA making rules that are “overly strict”. This, however, ain’t it... this isn’t the EPA making up a “nitpicky” rule just to stick it to Tesla... this is Tesla failing

So, it’s like if you go faster, you know, it’s just like you discover these things. If we knew them in advance, we’d fix them in advance.

the former M boss said it added too much weight and changed the driving dynamics in a negative way.  I trust his thoughts considering he’s the guy behind the E46 M3 and E39 M5.

We’ve owned two MK7s now. Picked up the Auhtobahn GTI in June of 2015 and ran it for 67k miles, then we traded it in for an R in 2017 before they switched to digital dash. Both rock solid. We’re almost to 70k on the R and everything just works, including the tech package with ACC, lane assist, etc. You feel the extra

Apparently the whole thing of it being considered “embezzlement” is a peculiarity of Oklahoma law. Elsewhere, it wouldn’t be.

“Embezzlement” seems like an odd charge for failing to return a rented videotape. And I have a hard time understanding why it would be a felony for a tape that would have been worth $60 at most. That’s just weird.

Would you pay $37-38k for a 300hp, rear-biased AWD hot hatch with a manual transmission, from a company with a reputation for ironclad reliability? Because that sounds like a great proposition to me!

Delicious information. Thank you HHFP!

All the experts I talked to indicate there is no real issue with life in these types of clutches.

That’s for sure why they’re doing it.

You can’t imagine paying $37k for probably the hottest, rally biased, super reliable hatchback with a great warranty?

i wonder. i’ve been on the phone w/ my local VW dealer for the past few months since the announcement of the Golf R, which is being offered in a manual. I will *gladly* cancel my reservation for this car if it comes in a manual, and it seems to be positioned against the $50,000 VW which pains me to consider shelling

I mean it out drags a Civic Type R and doesn’t get completely spanked by 3.0 Supra, what’s not to love?

Its a Toyota, i bet it’ll be fine.

Didn’t AMG come up with a twin-turbo 4-cylinder that put out 400+ hp?  Multiply by 0.75

So, if anyone is interested, the way they can do the trick AWD system splits is combination common and clever. Its the exact same PTU/RDU single clutch configuration on demand awd system as pretty much anything Toyota these days, including a real rear diff instead of a twin clutch RDU. In most of these systems your

You’d pass on those because they feel like economy cars, and then say you’d go with an STI, which has a cheaper looking interior than the Civic?

In the good timeline, a happier me is trying to decide between buying the GR Yaris or the Suzuki Jimny.

I feel like this would come in firmly in the mid-$30 and not quite as high as the $37-38k number, but yeah, a VERY overboosted 3 cylinder Corolla seems like a hard sell against the other options in the segment.
