I love Lotus, it’s the last true enthusiast’s brand and that is sadly why they struggle. I hope they get to keep their brand going with their philosophies intact.

Sounds like they go by titling so that probably does contribute. Plus if a family has a Camry and a Prius, they’ll probably ditch the Camry for another one or a Rav4 and keep the Prius
I would buy a Harlequin Golf or Polo in a heartbeat. Instead we get the news that the US will no longer even get the Golf. :(
My buddy is now 13 days with out a cig. He says the stuff he can smell now is amazing.
Grandmaster Cherokee
They’d sell so many of those, it would be similar to when they introduced the four door unlimited. People love the idea of owning a wrangler and solo many soccer moms and dads would pounce on a three row wrangler.
I’ll take both faces of the sixth gen Camaro as the answer to this question. The first design looked waaay too much like the previous gen to the point that most people didn’t even realize it was all new. Then, to try and make up for it, they hit it with ugly sticks until you weren’t sure what car you were looking at…
Well, when you’re a mediocre white guy who peaked in high school what else can you do to show the world how cool and tough you are!? I’m with you, I love the old trucks but these new ones are just absurd.
Here’s a company that does a modern Colorado Xtreme
There’s only one answer if we’re including concepts
They’ve said it’s because they’re already at nearly 100% capacity for production for their models. They can easily make more variations but if you’re already selling product as fast as you can make it, why introduce something else?
Sounds like he needs a hybrid of some sort. There’s several 2019 used Honda Insights under $20k that will take a load off of the gas and maintenance for the long commute and they’re just as fun to drive as a Civic.
The Escape Hybrid is true mechanical AWD and gets nearly 40 mpg. Not sure if the Badlands version will get a hybrid but it is just a rear diff upgrade and software over the standard Bronco Sport. It might be a little less efficient than 40 mpg, but it should still take some sales away from people looking at a higher…
You nailed it with the last paragraph. Jeep makes money hand over fist with their Trailhawk trims. Ford is looking to steal Compass and Renegade sales.
Yeah, I’m excited for a potential hybrid model of this as well.
Glad it’s not just me. You’re spot on that this looks like the true evolution of the 1st and 2nd gen Escape. It was always obvious that the 3rd and 4th gens were a different philosophy as they are just rebadged Kugas.
They also couldn’t have the seats lower because there’s supposedly a hybrid model in the pipeline and the batteries will most certainly be under the rear seats
I always wondered if they could justify it by strictly bringing over the hot versions. Focus STs could get well into the $30k range and while a young person might not be able to justify a Mustang or Camaro as an only car, a hot hatch is easy to live with.
I wonder if the Golf has some mechanical changes that justify the price difference. Perhaps standard torque vectoring and adaptive dampers that would be options on the S3.
You’d think it would have been cheaper though to just build one type of Passat even if they sell in the states at a lower price point, VW’s decision making in the states has always been baffling
