I would honestly place FF1 pretty much at the top, I love that game. Less story suits the FF games pretty well, I think.

Ooh, really? I never liked The Twin Snakes very much, compared to the original version of MGS.

1-3 are the best ones, in my opinion. 4 has some amazing moments in it though and is still a damn fine game, even though I don’t like it quite as much.

For whatever it’s worth, I’m inclined to agree with you. The gameplay and characters tend to be what really work in a FF game, more than the story itself.

Haha I think Linkle is kind of a nice name.

Thanks for the recommendation! I am sometimes iffy on more action focused games so I gave Age of Calamity a miss, but you sold me on it. I’ll pick it up next week when I get paid--thanks again!

I agree with this. It’s actually pretty creepy when you first see it too (at least I thought so back in 2010 when I was in my early 20s playing the game for the first time)

Yeah, I’ve heard all the arguments about it. Not to be rude—it is a personal choice, that’s all. I only spend $60 when I really really want a given game, and don’t spend $70.

Advising people to watch Kurosawa’s movies (not just the samurai ones but really all of them) is doing the lord’s work.

I refuse to pay $70 for a game so I get the distaste, but the idea that this is a DLC packaged as a full game (before we’ve even had the chance to play it and see for ourselves if that’s so) is just baseless.

I would have been happy with even a Spirit Tracks style where Zelda is present for a lot of it. I really love her character in BotW and I was hoping for a lot more of her. I’m still optimistic, even though I don’t think outright playable Zelda is likely at this point.

Yeah once I heard about the $70 price I honestly was not going to buy this game, despite it being the only one I’ve been excited for in ages. Then my friend told me about the vouchers, which was a relief. Especially after this trailer, which makes me even more keen on playing.

Recently I considered giving Cyberpunk 2077 another chance, but instead I reinstalled Deus Ex. And honestly, I think that was a pretty good choice.

You are probably right, but I have to admit that just from the perspective of personal taste, it’s not something that I myself would really dig. I haven’t been really wild about an FF game from a gameplay perspective since X (though I’ve heard enough praise lately for XII that I think I should revisit it, and give it

The action game thing is a shame, because it’s pretty much a deal breaker for me. I’m just not that interested in action games, especially not from Final Fantasy--I want an RPG. That said, I hope a lot of other people are able to enjoy it. It’s not like I can’t just replay the old ones, after all.

My roommate gets excited about these things and I don’t have the heart to tell her I could care less, so I’ll be watching it too, no doubt. I’ll be glad I did if there’s any news on A) Tears of the Kingdom or B) those Wind Waker/Twilight Princess on the Switch rumors, but I suspect anything substantive on either count

I admit that Live a Live and Triangle Strategy alone are enough that I consider this a good year for the Switch, but if I were a more active gamer I would probably consider it a bummer that there weren’t more new releases that excited me.

I would argue that it is not a very good game if you just want to murder everything, because the world is hostile and if you approach it like that you are likely to burn through a lot of characters. It’s a lot of fun, though, especially if you’re into the tongue-in-cheek grimness of it--sometimes the book reads almost

I was very pleased to see Cy_Borg on this list. What a great game. I only just discovered Mörk Borg earlier this year and I love it, so I picked up Cy_Borg as soon as it went on sale. It’s been a good year for me!

Oh, I know. I am an enthusiast of Norse mythology and that era as well, and I must tell you, it’s fraught meeting people who have the same interests. The few times I’ve met someone with the same interests there’s always a moment where we’re both trying to suss out whether the other one is a Nazi.
