Same. I don’t usually feel too exhausted with the state of the world to take a break from the internet but I may have to do it for the second weekend in a row now.

Sending you all the hugs. My dad and step-mother were around there very recently and I had the same reaction. (They’re back in Paris now and safe.)

I’ve been reading a lot of places that people think 2016 is already worse than 2015, but it wasn’t until today that I decided to hop on the bandwagon.

Goddam you guys. We had a friend over there with a bunch of her students. They were at the event, but they are okay. Scared the crap out of me while I sat and waited for a response.

I am angry, sad, and tired.

I will forever be #TeamTaylor but especially in this situation. I really don’t get the #TeamCalvin here.

Woman writes hit song. Declines to take credit for it until conspiracy theories/obvious logic leads fans/tabloids to the story. Confirms it in one very straightforward sentence because she feels no obligation to protect the fiction she and her ex-boyfriend spun about it. Deserves credit. Did write song.

This is the trust devastating thing. Conservative-voting judges are allowed to accept fancy vacations and the treats from lobbyists for industries on which they are deciding cases, but RBG isn’t supposed to give her opinion about a Presidential election?

It drives me nuts that right-wingers like Scalia have historically been very open about their biases and political leanings. Why in the fuck can’t Ginsburg also say her piece?

Of course this brings up the problem, SC justices shouldn’t be hired for life as they all get too old and some just won't let go. IMO they should be given a twenty year stint with automatic retirement at 75.

And that Thomas’ wife is a Health Care lobbyist making huge profits on challenging the law. Or that Scalia and Thomas both were wined and dined by the Kochs during and after Citizens United.

That’s what pisses me off about all of this backlash. Scalia often went on Fox News and talked politics, and the right kept its mouth shut. And yet when Ginsburg calls Trump a faker after he tells her to resign (for saying that she’s nervous about his election), suddenly the New York Times editorial board finds the

Precisely.

Might want to remind people that Scalia never hesitated to express a political opinion. So there is precedent.

I am vocal about my support for choice buy only a few people know about my abortion. I live in SE Texas and I am worry about my job and being targeted by antis. That’s also why I don’t “come out” about my atheism.

Is anyone else here afraid to share their abortion story?

I’ve never had an abortion. I’m pro-choice but I don’t think I’d personally be able to do it if I was faced with that decision, I don’t know. But my best friend had an abortion a few months ago.

There are about 4 pro life billboards between my city and the next major center over. I was contemplating, on my last drive through, what it would cost me to buy my own pro choice sign.
