I would agree with your assessment of Terminal 1. We were just passing through SAN on our way to OAK. Wish we could have stayed in town for a while. Visited a few years ago and really enjoyed it.
It was more than ten minutes, but any time you have to go through the TSA circus more than once is a drag. Once you’re past security, you should be able to stay past security.
San Diego? Our SWA connection was at a different concourse, and we had to exit to baggage claim and then go through security again.
