Generally, wars are waged by governments but fought by people. That’s why events like this can happen.
Sometimes, what you don’t see is more interesting than what you do see. To wit: Delight in Disorder.
This was called Stephanie Myers’ Classic Car and Vintage Airplane Show. I had never heard of it before. It wasn’t an air show per se, but the Trimotor was selling rides. I have no idea if it’s ever been back. I missed the show this year, it was back in February. I need to set a reminder to check for it next year.
Austin. I shot the Trimotor at a car/air show in Georgetown, a few north of Austin.
That is a remarkable shot, especially when you consider the speed at which it is happening. So much of it is luck, which gets better with where you happen to be standing. Just ask Neil Liefer.
I’m a musician. People watch me work every time I perform. I get your point, and if I take my car to a shop with certified mechanics then I’ll leave it and come back when it’s done and trust that the work is done right. If I take my car to JL, which is often staffed by barely skilled laborers, you better believe I’ll…
I agree, and I have had a drain plug stripped before. I would like to think that if they know I’m watching that they might be at least a little bit more careful. But I’m not in a position to do the work myself.
Which is why, whenever I take my car to JL, I always stand outside the bay and watch them work. I had a friend who worked at JL, and one of the guys failed to refill a car with oil. I watch to make sure that everything that came off the car is put back on.
Placido Domingo is an international opera star of the highest order. I’m sure his English is impeccable. His F1 bona fides, though, probably not so much.
I tried beta blockers, but they never did much for me. I have since moved on to Xanax for really big performances. It’s fantastic. I only take it occasionally, though. Recently, I performed in a ballet orchestra, and there is a point in the second act of Cinderella by Glazunov where the entire orchestra stops and the…
Diff’rent strokes....
Bullshit walks.
I play trumpet professionally, and I have a pretty big problem with nerves at times. Most of my playing is from the back row of the orchestra, where nerves aren’t that much of a problem. But I really dislike solo recitals, standing onstage all by myself. I can’t imagine doing it in front of nationwide TV cameras, and…
I only know her by her debut album (One Moment More), from which this song comes. She is a good singer, but she makes her living more as a songwriter for others. It’s interesting to see how some musicians make the cut, while others don’t. While Smith is a fine singer, and a very good songwriter, she doesn’t seem to…
Porter Wagoner! Wagoner brought Dolly to TV in the 1960s, and they worked together for many years. His TV show is still shown on RFDTV. You many not be a fan of country music from that era, but he has was the consummate showman, and he always had fabulous musicians playing for and with him. Here’s live performance of J…
