Probably fairly close. I imagine their pilots are at least competent, but that antiquated gear, even the older MiG-29s, would be no match for the South Korean AF, let alone the USAF.

Well, they’re making no effort to be secretive about it. Perhaps a show of force? Or a way of warning Turkey that they plan to pass them out to Turkey’s enemies on the Turkish border (not sure what side those on the border are on). I would imagine the Russian ship has ample air defenses of its own.
