I don't use Chrome, so I don't quit Chrome. I use keyboard shortcuts constantly. And CMD+W to close a tab is right next to CMD+Q for quit. And I hit the Q accidentally often. So, I guess this feature was really designed for thick-fingered dolts like me. I use FF, and like you, my browser is open for weeks.
