I only found out late last night that the demo was on (posted it to Oppo). The family and I headed downtown after soccer practice, thinking that we wouldn't be able to get anywhere near the shoot. I just hoped to hear the car. Turns out we had a front row seat, and the timing was perfect. I'm sorry some of you

I was there. It was awesome.

Don't get me wrong. I think it looks like a wild ride. It would just never happen in the US.

Somehow, I don't think these guys would be too keen on this idea.

I was thinking about Schwarzenegger.

I'm not a pilot, but it sounds to me like the CAF pilot made a pretty good landing considering the conditions and how little time he had to adjust. Any landing you can walk away from, I suppose.

I normally don't go for crazy paint jobs like that, but I find this one strangely attractive.

If it was Arnie, he would be screwing Rosie.

"I loved it so much, I bought the company!"

For what it's worth, the experts at Wikipedia opine: He is based on generic NASCAR vehicles, but with design influences from the Mazda Miata and Dodge Viper.

Pictures of Steve McQueen's junk in 5.....4.....3.....2.....1.....

I agree that that car has a decidedly 80's vibe, but I still don't think it's very attractive.

I suppose it could be worse.

Apparently, the blame in this one is on the human, not the drone.

That's why I think it's a shame that Laughton didn't do more directing. If you like Charles Laughton, I would recommend The Big Clock (1948). It stars Laughton and Ray Milland, and it's the film on which No Way Out was based. But it's a better movie, because it doesn't have Kevin Costner in it.

This is actually the ONLY film I like Mitchum in. It's an under-appreciated horror classic.

Now playing

First thing that came to mind. Robert Mitchum in Night of the Hunter (1955), directed by Charles Laughton. Great film.

Martin Grossinger's post looks like a helicopter, if that's the rotor blade pointing toward that Frontier Dash-8. I don't suppose there are too many other ways to take a portrait in a cockpit, but the parallels are neat.

Amelia Earhart? Really? Just keep her out of Lockheed Electras.
