Sadly movies like Barber Shop and Madea are more commercially successful and are not good art - or acting - and in fact do damage perpetuating their own stereotypes. Obvious exceptions that quickly come to mind are Fuqua, Lee or Singleton - all excellent... Cheadle is another with his Miles Davis flick...
