It helps that you have the former head of VW Design at the helm, as well as many designers from Germany. Also many Koreans go to design schools outside of Korea.

Also many designers tend to come from the same design schools, at least in the U.S. So they usually use each other’s ideas and you get these trends.

If my time at CCS and Architecture school is anything to go, then every school and studio has and always will have asshats. Some of them thought of themselves as God's gift to man like if they were performing spinal surgery or something.

So after all of that work, you left Chrysler?

The average customer is probably a wife with two kids whose husband is either an Engineer or Supervisor.

So not only is hard to get hired by an automotive company but you can easily get fired. Christ why do many try to get into them anymore?

Like I said, he doesn’t work at a video game studio, its at a big aerospace company so its different. He also tells me that crunch time is not advised and their lead supervisor can send them home if an insufficient clause is reached. Now to be fair, im guessing engineers have more say in these manners than a 24 year

Its at a huge aerospace company, so not exactly a studio. Though if he completes his 40 hours they'll tell him to go home unless its a crunch week.

I don't think the marketing guys are the ones doing the crunching though.

So now tell that do a 22 year old fresh out of college with $80,000 in debt. Damn well he/she will happily work on weekends.

Question. Do designers get paid overtime? Or does it depend on the studio? I know someone who’s an engineer and even if he’s salaried they’ll pay him overtime.

This isn’t just in the video game industry but many other creative design industries as well. Architecture, Industrial Design, Animation, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Concept Art, Web Design. I’m an Arch student, and everything I read in this article is exactly the same in many other fields. Hell, Steve Jobs was

Whoever drew it should have put the pen down way earlier.”

This sketch is a design study, like how architects make small scale building models.

With us, it’s usually clay or foam that is sculpted by hand, then apply some white spacle to smooth out the surface, sand the living stupid shit out of it until your fingers bleed and apply some primer. Then you sand the primer to smooth it out and repeat the process many times. Finally, you apply a coat of paint or

Little background story first. Despite being a Sophomore at CCS, I actually graduated from high school in 2010. During the late 2000's, Art Center was being run by Richard Koshalek, who previously worked in museums as an art curator or something. Anyways, during his contract with ACCD, he was known within the school

Precisely why I chose CCS, cheap compared to Art Center, not to mention the whole fiasco they had with the previous dean. Castriotta himself didn’t exactly grew up eating Taco Bell’s value menu if you know what I mean. ;)

He probably just got really lucky. Art Center grads usually work for European or Asian companies, CCS grads pretty much get stuck in Detroit.

If you wanna make it more complicated, the Honda Civic was designed by this guy:

I’m curious, what’s with Korea pumping out designers? The Camaro was designed by a Korean, the Bentley guy is Korean, Art Center is full of Koreans. Is car design a popular thing over at Seoul?
