The Tablet story makes clear that the charges weren’t dropped because Kai’s story didn’t check out, but rather because the state AG had other priorities than a 19-year old’s failed attempt at bank fraud.
You don’t think there’s anything weird about an outspoken Evangelical Christian discovering she has Jewish heritage, then immediately converting to Judaism, deciding to take a leading role in Jewish leftist movements, and trying to pass off that newfound religion as both (1) a product of your upbringing and (2)…
According to the arresting officer, the DA declined to press charges, both because (1) Salazar didn’t actually steal anything, and (2) there was no evidence, other than the “voice ID,” so this wasn’t a priority case. Plus, Salazar was a 19-year old kid studying at Columbia, not some hardened criminal. There’s…
I’m not sure what you’re responding to? To be clear, Salazar’s lies have nothing to do with her policy. It’s just remarkable to see a movement galvanized by Bernie Sanders’ perceived honesty and forthrightness carry water for any one who claims his patronage.
It’s obviously nonsense to claim that all DSA pols are liars simply because Salazar is.
Someone attacking Tablet, of all places, for being some sort of stooge for the right is high comedy.
Importantly, she’s also used this invented Jewish identity to bolster her political orientation, including on the Israel/Palestine issue. (See, e.g., https://forward.com/news/405471/julia-salazar-says-jewish-roots-helped-inspire-her-political-activism/)
This is beneath Deadspin. Tablet doesn’t “have it out” for Salazar by reporting her lies any more than the New York Times “has it out” for Trump by publishing the anonymous op-ed. Tablet’s a good, nonpartisan publication, that did some very important reporting by uncovering that, among other things, Salazar openly…
You can’t convince me that Todd Bowles wasn’t trying to lose every game and accidentally won 5. He’s... not a good coach.
As a Jets fan, I’m often asked what team I hate the most. Is it the Patriots? The Dolphins? The Giants?
And I can immediately think of at least two current MLB franchises that should probably be contracted.
And you stop at Krumpy’s for donuts, right?
October birthday here, and you’re right, it’s great. HOWEVER, in my district, the cutoff was October 31st, so I was always the youngest kid in my class. Nothing terribly wrong with that, though.
