To be fair, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI are both brilliantly written, and their stories are way more cohesive than Final Fantasy VII’s is.

“What am I?” Mewtwo asked.

I don’t like Bernie. I’m really kind of fucking tired of Old Ass White Guys running everything. And compared to Warren, he’s been sketchy with details and numbers on his plans for a lot of stuff. And besides that, his constant blindness to the very important racial issues we’re facing, added to his scummy-chumminess

And yet you clicked this article instead of easily skipping over it and had the time of day to reply to my comment. Clearly you care enough to do so.

Errr, that wasn’t an animation error though. “Originally he was gay and black. And we actually drew him purple in his first show. But we thought it was too much so we just kept him gay.” Direct quote from Jay Kogen

You realize that people in Japan were the first ones to notice this, right?

you sound like a white supremacist idiot

It’s possible to have an opinion about more than one thing.

You don’t think Japanese people know what skin color is? You know that Japan is aware that the rest of the planet exists, right?

The in game screenshots and the anime are lit differently, but the official art (which I assume in not in semi-darkness or blinding sunlight) is the thing that damns Twilight Wings. Which is confusing, as various other characters in the main anime (such as Hau and Lenora) have kept their darker skin color no problem.

You can tell this comes from a place of homophobia and derision from their faces. Everyone other human gets a human face. Rapists, murderers, abusive parents, everyone gets a face. They get these terrifying masks. They aren’t human.

I’m hoping you’ll agree with me, but just to make it clear for other readers: you don’t represent all gay men (let alone other queer people), so you not having an issue with the scene doesn’t mean nobody else should. Just because one queer person doesn’t have an issue with it doesn’t make the scene okay.

The stereotype of these particular gay men doesn’t bug me all that much...

As a lesbian I’m glad that you represent us all. Here is our ambassador folks.

It’s the snowflake argument that every douche bag gamergate kid makes, just fancied up to make him seem like he is actually saying something new, and not re-hashing a bullshit excuse to be racist/sexist/homophobic/whatever.

Sir, this is an Arby’s.

Is this satire? If not, yikes.

Now if Japan could stop putting homophobic bullshit in their games in the first place....

I interpreted that new intro portion as a historical view - the city started as something familiar to us, with sunlight and happy children, but that changes with the creation of the first reactor and a new dependence on that energy, as well as the intense buildup of the city’s density and eventual plates. The whole point is to look like the drawings of J. J. Grandville circa the early 1800s. It’s beautiful.
