Looks like Greg Ellis left out the part where he asked people to follow him on Parler for the real story.

Don’t be so fucking stupid.

“I may not agree with her”.

Tuna is expensive. The police should show more appreciation for the support.

Some of these are nice. Death Frontier reminds me a bit of music from the Panzer Dragoon games.

Mkay, dude. Glad you got that off your chest.

Meanwhile, please go figure out who the “author” of this massive, massive videogame adapted from a movie franchise adapted from a series of books is and report back. I’m excited to find out.

People are allowed have their beliefs even if they differ to yours, this isn’t a fascist world. If she wants to believe what she does then leave her to it. Just like religious nutjobs can believe that homosexuality is wrong because its written in a fantasy story.

*Of course* people are allowed to have their beliefs. I am just as entitled to never wanting a single cent of my money to be given to that person. Boycotts are not persecution and are certainly not censorship.

I don’t get it. Quietly Simmering didn’t say “She’s not allowed to publish books if she doesn’t believe in what I believe!” They implied “I don’t want to give money to that person because of their shite opinion, so I won’t buy it.” What part of that is fascism? Who’s calling on the government to shut JK Rowling down?

By saying, "Just leave them alone with their ideals," strengthens their platform. Ignoring makes them stronger because they reach out to others and spread that shit. They start raising money, gaining popularity and then next thing you know, they start making the rules, but its okay... we just need to ignore them

The difference being that bigots who spread hate like this, like religious organizations can get people killed or entire groups attacked and lives put in danger, so no, it’s not just let her believe what she wants, especially when she has a platform to spread that hate that endangers the lives of innocent people.

Death of the Author is really just a theory about whether you should factor in authorial intent when analyzing a text. It says nothing about whether one should financially support an author who you find to be an abhorrent person, and anyone who uses it as a defense for doing that doesn’t understand what Death of the

To your #2 point (heh), and they’re free to not want to give her money if they don’t want to. See how that works?

She is free to have her views and people are free to not support her through buying her products.

Most people (in these comments and the article at least) don't seem to be saying that she can't have her own beliefs. Just that they don't want to support someone with their purchases who does.

Her beliefs have a noticeable uptick in trans suicides every time she speaks against them. So yeah, you kind of can’t just leave her be on this one.

No one said that she isn’t “allowed” to have her beliefs. Where in this discussion do you get the idea that people want to prohibit her from holding certain beliefs? Many people want to financially punish her for these beliefs. But that in no way forbids her from holding them.

No one said someone can’t have different beliefs. The comment just meant they don’t want to support Rowling. No one is saying she can’t have different beliefs.

Absolutely! And people are able to have the belief that she’s a PoS because of it. And then vote with their wallets. So if that user doesn’t want to support someone hateful because of their beliefs, they’d like to know the specifics. (Which is, of course she’s getting money from it)

But you don’t have to put money in those people’s pockets.
