I’ve got an almost unclearable wall with fighting games - arthritis-related issues mean I just don’t have the dexterity to play at anywhere approaching a skill level for online play, so as much as I adore the stories and characters I usually give them a pass.

I think ‘joke’ implies something very different from what this show actually does, on a humor level, at least by my own metrics. It’s a satire, sure - how does all of this wealth and privilege shape these people, what weird dysfunctional eccentricities does it imbue them with, etc.

But if I ask what people find -funny-…

I just don’t think endless variations of douchebags saying stuff like “we’re gonna fuck their pussies” in regards to business dealings and Roman saying “fucky sucky” over and over is a joke so much as an irritating dialogue style. 

Don’t they actually just lose because of an asinine system designed to empower wealthy landowners and a half-century of concentrated gerrymandering?

Might I recommend The Righteous Gemstones - another HBO show about an overbearing Patriarch and his three idiot failchidren, but they actually remembered to write jokes.

I’m hate-watching this show even now, into season four, so I’m not going to say it’s not compelling. But, addressing your points in order:
