Thank you for writing this-I noticed the same thing on CNN today. One of their anchors basically FORCED this woman who was in a shelter to admit she had to leave her service dog behind (she swam out with a baby and supplies and didn’t have a spare hand). It was appallingly cruel.

You would think that with 24 hours to fill they could, oh I don’t know, go into an in-depth discussion of how the rise in mean global surface temperature is causing these disasters to be much, much worse.

Seems to me the biggest wrench in the machine here is the entirely unacceptable blanket ban of particular language from television. The ban sort of makes sense for scripted television, or other prepared programming, but covering things like disasters or other types of crises get a generous pass in my book.

One of the worst things to come out of the Trump presidency is the “redemption” of CNN. You would think that with 24 hours to fill they could, oh I don’t know, go into an in-depth discussion of how the rise in mean global surface temperature is causing these disasters to be much, much worse. Instead, they’re out

Reporting on a reporter getting yelled at for reporting. Now I’m commenting on it. Meta.

The 2 take aways i had from this article were the point you explained here(and extremely well, i might add!)

I hate that this was honestly my first thought. Who gives a fuck about water damage to buildings while the people are still suffering, and how little awareness is necessary to put a positive spin on this? If I were in a car crash, I wouldn’t be very impressed by the ambulance driver’s concern for whether I’ll be

This is a great point. I was talking to my mom last night about the “Kelly Effect,” after some talking head mentioned how Kelly would be whipping the white house into shape. Yesterday marked 1 month for Kelly on the job of COS, and in that time, he fired the Mooch. That’s pretty much all that gets put into the “Good”

He’ll screw it up.

Your observations are in keeping with the now years-long trend of ascribing the best possible outcomes (no matter how remote or far-fetched) to any potentially positive change. The fawning over Trump appearing “presidential” at the State of the Union was equally over the top, and wildly Pollyanna-ish.

As fawningly bad as those kissass pundits who raved how “presidential” Orange Dumbass was when he reads someone else’s words off a teleprompter without his racist ad-libs. Like congratulating an idiot child for flushing the toilet afterwards without badgering him.

You nailed it both times.

I’m not at all a believer in the supposed liberal media bias. However, there is one huge bias they have, which is to whatever narrative they’ve decided on. When General Kelly became the COS, they started talking about the “Kelly Effect.” The White House was suddenly very disciplined, according to the media, even

A real leader would be there on the front lines, showing the country and the world that they’re willing to actually do something to help. A younger leader, doing physical labor; an older leader, like Trump, could be doing some volunteer work like handing out water and supplies to those that need it or serving food.

Mr. Trump, one aide said, was fascinated by the long-term effect of water damage on structures in the Gulf Coast, peppering FEMA and National Security Council briefers with detailed questions about the flooding in Houston and Galveston.

“Shut up, Glenn!”

Any positive image Trump gives off today, or in the next few weeks, over Harvey is pretty irrelevant.

Holy shit, that little anecdote about Trump saying “water damage is the worst” is just such a microcosm of how shitty Trump is even if he’s trying hard.

Yeah Trump does have a chance to do this right. Resign you piece of shit and take that fucker pence with you.
