My mom actually used to be a romance writer! She quit her 9-5 when she had kids and had always dreamed of being a published novelist. Romance novels were simply the most accesible way to do that and she published about a dozen of them while staying home with us. 15 years later she went back to office work.
I used to

I never wore jewelry before I got married and I got used to my ring surprisingly quickly. I picked a really plain one- no stones or anything, for that very reason. Now I usually don’t even notice it’s on.

We went to a bunch of games in Vancouver and I could not stop getting emotional at the little girls in their jerseys. It’s just inspiring to watch the, get so excited!

I traveled Japan solo (as a woman) for two weeks a couple years ago. Didn’t speak a word of Japanese, stayed mostly at hostels and had a fantastic time.

Alright but that wasn’t my point at all. You were wrong. Stadium was absolutely sold out yesterday.

Attendance was 53K but the stadium was sold out. Just not everyone with a ticket showed up. I was there yesterday, the atmosphere was insane.

Uhh, the stadium was definitely sold out. As were several other games where the US and Canada were playing.

This is missing my favorite/least favorite Icelandic specialty. Pickled lamb. I was SO hungry and it was the ONLY thing on the menu and I wanted to cry.

I tend to agree. I also traveled a lot in my twenties and it really did help me redefine my notions of beauty. Removing myself from my daily life really forced me to re-examine my set routines. I stopped wearing make up after a couple of weeks on the road and it was such a revelation that I didn’t “have to.”

My husband did this a couple weeks ago. The first three days were heaven and then I started to get really bored. Then I got annoyed at myself for being bored...

Why not both?

Seriously, I get this. Our solution was that husband took up a new hobby (season tickets to a sports team) and I get to spend all that delicious time at home alone. Helped a lot.

My husband and I have both been working from home our entire relationship! Now that we have a tiny 1 bedroom apartment in an expensive city we had to make an adjustment: he got a coworking space (he’s the extravert) and I stay home (introvert). Works like a charm.

Wedding etiquette question:
We’re going my husband’s cousins wedding this weekend. They aren’t particularly close (I’ve only met the cousin once). I bought the bride a nice gift from their registry that cost about $100. Now my mother in law is insisting that we need to give them an envelope of cash as well because we

This... doesn’t really make sense to me. Wasn’t Susan a recurring character over quite a long time? They kept bringing her back, why would they do that if she was so hard to work with.

I got a drunken email from my uptight British ex saying that he was happy for me but he still hoped some day we’d find a way to be together.

We did it for our exes. It just seemed polite.

To be fair- HHI is all incredibly staged. I know because I was almost on it. That couple already had their house picked out (and were probably already living in it), so maybe the dishwasher thing was all they could muster.
