In another story on this, one commenter made an observation I agree with, which is that Gutierez-Reed probably did have enough practical experience to do her job... but not enough life experience to, as you suggested, say “No!” to unsafe requests.

The problem with Spacey is that he’s a great actor. If he was merely mediocre then there wouldn’t be this horrible ambivalence about his work.

Look, im pretty fucking liberal, but neither shareholder or management are trying to make people angry.  They are doing it, but that isnt anyone’s intention.  Calm the fuck down.

Management and shareholders are not game developers. So again, please try to separate development teams from studio and publisher management with your ire.

I actually think there is a difference.  We’ve normalized harassment and death threats over trivial issues, and people have access to a culture that eggs them on.  Without comment boards and the pursuit of likes, a lot of these people would still be decent. 

I love these discussions, because in my 30th year in the game industry (i used to draw sprites for SNES games), I truly despise armchair developers who say stupid shit like “I can’t believe QA let this through” as if QA has final say on when a game ships. I’ve had to veto a QA recommendation to hold back a release…

Are you a child? As someone who spends all their time creating shit (as well as critiquing the creative works of others), the idea that someone who has never and will never create anything that gets put out in front of people to be judged feels entitled to talk shit to people who do is ridiculous.
