So in your opinion, do you think that this is the best solution (having death zones) or do you think there’s a better way to address it?

I guess the question would be how much would it be to fix and contrasted to how much they’re making. I honestly have no baseline on what a fix would cost, but how much is too much?

Right. I was simply using a basic 2D game as an example of the difficulty and I highly doubt anyone would hand code collision in 3D.

Oh, I agree with you. I think that Rockstar is simply sitting on their laurels, pulling in profit, exerting the least amount of effort. I view GTA online as almost exploitative of gamers.

It’s easier to code: if player in (any of these coordinates) -> move player to these coordinates/kill them.

I’ve never programmed a game before, but I’d assume it’d take more coding to say: if player at x, y coordinate tries to move to x, y-1 (invalid coordinate), return player to x, y coordinate, creating the

“It’s an open-world game!” - Rockstar
“Let’s put death zones out in the open.” - Also Rockstar

I haven’t really play GTA online, but that seems like a poor way of handling the issue and seems a bit counter to the definition of open-world gaming. I get it if someone is walking through walls, but the examples given up

Wow, loved me some MS back in college. Played too many hours, bought too much NX. Part of me wants to play again and a mobile version sounds neat, but I shouldn’t; for the sake of my wallet, I shouldn’t.

This is an article. And this a comment about said article.

What I find really interesting is that I think there is inherent bias towards anyone that you work with, or even share an industry with, as you can identify with their struggle. I feel like that bias is feeding into a lot of devs siding with Ms. Price; they’re making this instant jump from “She was fired” to “She was

The “Hurt Manfeels” definitely came across as sexist, which I find sad coming from someone that, I would assume, is striving for equality. And “Get the fuck off my feed” was definitely uncalled for, as a simple block would have sufficed. I do slightly disagree that calling ANY customer an “asshat” is grounds for

This whole ArenaNet/Jessica Price fiasco is getting quite skewed. To clarify my position before we get into the weeds, I find it appalling that internet mobs are using this as precedence and justification for their anti-female dev crusade. With that out of that way...

I finding it interesting that the same group of people that are purporting the “deep state” conspiracy theory aren’t willing to entertain the “manchurian candidate” conspiracy theory. Pick and choose as convenient?

Joking around: Instead of Half-Life 3, this is what Valve’s game developers have been working on.

Appreciate that. Often times I feel like my introversion is more of an obstacle, limiting me from experiencing and enjoying “normal” things like office parties or conventions. Poking a little fun at myself, as long as there is anecdotal evidence of people surviving the crush, I think I too could be a survivor.

While the gamer in me would love to go to an E3, the introvert in me knows that I would hate being around that many people for any amount of extended time. Because of that, I am super appreciative of this booth’s design and it motivates me to come check out the expo some year.

Wow, didn’t know that it was based off an old flash game. Props for the link.

Damn it. Have a star for making me laugh first thing on a Monday.

Honestly, I’ve been reading on how to migrate to a Scandinavian country. Originally thought that I would try to apply after I get my masters, but I’m not sure if I should wait that long. The notion of looking for a job as a migrant is intimidating.

I’m not a kid, but yeah, these guys certainly pull it off with style. I might do this when I retire; just walking around, picking up trash, looking like a badass.

It’s interesting that, as per the update from CrossFit, Berger is not their Chief Knowledge Officer, but yet he’s representing himself as such on Twitter. Seems like misrepresentation would be grounds for suspension, outside of the content of his speech.
