Korea has challenges, but this action was not taken on behalf of the country. It was taken by businesses trying to appease fans, and anti-feminism certainly exists among many fans and business people. Yet, as one of the links in this article notes, there are significant efforts for feminism in Korea.

I’m familiar with non-Western ideals, and I’m saying it’s not reasonable even for Korea. One of the other sides to the common “it’s all relative” argument is that many Westerners seemingly assume Asian countries are either inherently unknowable or inherently less progressive. That’s simply not the case.

Not to mention the Lovecraftian nightmare necessary to twist the girl in the center’s spine the way it is.

A woman wanting a friend over a hero in a relationship is a rather reasonable opinion no matter where you are in the world today. Obviously there is push back in some places, but Korea is a nation with plenty of modern views on women overcoming archaic ones.

So a voice actress shared a picture of a basic shirt related to a feminist forum and stated she doesn’t need to find someone to rescue her, just someone to mutually care for.

It’s only naive to deny the problems around you. Ignorance may be bliss, but it’s still ignorance. After many years, I’ve come to know all too well that sexism and racism in our cultures aren’t made up problems; they are a real part of our past and present. And that impact is both casual and egregious in our lives.

It doesn’t make my life worse to acknowledge problems around me and voice my opinion. If that bothers you enough to snip at me, that’s more your problem than mine.

Depends on who you talk to in Japan. It’s not a monolith by any measure, as even shown in the manga this segment and post are about. :)

It’s misleading about defining the genres. Shojo manga vs Hard-ass manga. A fluff piece chose random examples to make generalizations about larger genres, as myself and others pointed out. They even did the classic “pink vs blue”, girls vs boys shtick, which is inherently steeped in traditional sexist tropes. That’s

And you misunderstood that the issue isn’t that something is “fluff” but that it is sexist and misleading regardless of how substantial it is.

That’s a rather antisocial way to deal with people. Being considerate of others isn’t a weakness, Eighty. It’s okay if you want to be “blunt”, as I often am, too, but you can’t just assume everyone is going to appreciate your supposedly friendly gestures.

Saying “Settle down little one.” is rude. I’ve had plenty of smug men talk to me that way over the years, and it’s never welcome.

The base point is to be rude to other people? Seems counter-intuitive to having actual conversations with other commenters.

Not sure why you feel it so important to leave condescending messages to random people, but okay. Peace!

Fair enough. Sorry for lumping you in like that. :)

Now that would be the dream.

If only we could get a Famicom-Mini! <3

Hey there. I will always go hard as fuck. Thanks. heh. I haven’t been posting quite as much, as I’ve been busier, but glad to post when I can. :)

My problem is with picking and choosing examples to fit a preconceived notions of genre and gender norms. It’s a needless thing to do that at best reinforces that people hold such preconceived notions.

My criticism of it still stands regardless of how throwaway it is. Folks don’t have to be bothered by someone taking issue with some random crappy thing. I offered criticism of it and moved on with my day until people replied saying they cared about my caring about it.
