I’m so happy about Denzel! He totally deserves it, so much more than Casey, fuck him. And Kim, well, no bad wishes, just tough brake ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I almost had a panic attack:

I don’t think Julia Roberts is below average. As an actress, she’s quite competent.

it’s such a relief to learn i am not the only person who feels this way. i cannot stand the woman.

You could use the same logic to say that no street should ever be closed for a parade or a block party or a presidential motorcade. But for some reason it’s only ever applied to protesters.

It’s the latest in the fast-growing genre of glib tsk-tsking. E.g., “I support their right to protest, but they shouldn’t block traffic. What if there’s a sick child!”

I couldn’t tell at first if this comment was sincere or sarcastic or double sarcastic or maybe even triple sarcastic.

Sage Steele is a piece of shit. She posts her hot takes all time on social media.

This is all very unfair to poor Sage Steele. She makes it clear it’s not herself she’s worried about—it’s all the OTHER flyers (some of them immigrants too, by golly by gum!) who were being inconvenienced for whom Sage Steele’s heart wept. And all because some untidy and obstreperous liberals got a little upset about

I doubt she will be. She’s 49. She’s heading towards “movie grandma” territory, and is very unlikely to be cast in any role where she’s giving birth at her age.

I think Lyft’s care for drivers is starting to pay off. I’m not a major users, but I get around 10 ride-shares per month, and for a while I was using Uber exclusively because the rates were lower overall. But the driver quality tanked recently in my area. Uber drivers have become more difficult to deal with,

To me, Uber is being reactive with it’s decisions right now (creating a legal fund that may or may not be needed sounds like saving face)... Lyft is being proactive (donating the ACLU without the motivation of customer losses). I give greater weight to an altruistic action that isn’t in response to a mistake

We just had the same experience. We used Lyft for the first time recently. Our driver worked for both Lyft and Uber so we asked about both and which he preferred. He said he makes more from Uber, but likes Lyft and his Lyft customers better.

Lyft was operating, but they didn’t drop rates to coincide with the taxi strike. They also didn’t spend the last week buddying up next to Trump and telling everyone that we need to play ball with him.

Meaning that if I am waiting for my driver and text him/her, they can’t get it till they stop. Texing while driving is illegal in my city, but uber allows it.

I will totally take doing a good thing that also benefits the company. Cynical good is better than no good.

I’ve only ever ordered through Lyft but several of my drivers have worked for both and they all praised Lyft over Uber, and it wasn’t even about the money. I’ve always hated Uber but hearing that the drivers themselves had a preference in terms of working conditions made me feel better for only having worked with

The disallowing of texts and calls while driving would seem to increase safety for both passengers and drivers. Kudos to them. 🌿

“a cynical corporate power grab that’s as opportunistic—if not more so—as Uber dropping surge pricing in correlation with a taxi strike.”

Some colleagues and I rode with a woman who drove for both Lyft and Uber. She characterized them thusly: Uber is more concerned about the customers and Lyft is more concerned about the drivers. An example of this is that Lyft disallows their driver to answer text messages or make phone calls to customers while
