I get what you’re saying that the outsiders of the past can now be the cool kids. I think they went too far in trying to subvert past expectations. Society as a whole has not gotten to the point where minorities are the new oppressors in high school.

I can’t believe this train wreck is still happening. I’ve said it before, but put aside the casting issues and you’re still left with a movie that, at its most basic level, involves a kid trying to blow up a school and kill all of his classmates.

So in this version of Heathers, the Heathers are racially and sexually diverse and Veronica and JD are pretty straight white people who in most high schools would have an easier time being accepted by others? I’m not sure where some of the people have come from, but there are some very insistent, very rude people who do seem to fit the mold referenced in post above - super rigid, very black and white, and very willing to go mean girl attack mode.
