Latin American here, it’s pretty much a running joke in the entire region to poke fun at Argentina for its massive ego. Usually they’re good sports about it, at least the ones with a sense of humour ;)

Except no one is body shaming her, or slut shaming her. They are attention whore shaming her, and rightfully so.
In ever said cut had anything to with quality, i said that in the case of JCrew both quality and fit are an issue for me. I can’t say it clearer than that and that’s the last time I’m addressing this with you because I think at this point you're just pretending to be an idiot - at least I hope so.
Are you slow?
Wut?
Bette needs to stop lowering herself to kim’s level by even responding to her.
I didn’t mean in terms of quality of the materials I meant in terms of cut and fit.
She'd already been married at that point, I think. Also in her case it's not so much about experience and more about the fact that she seems genuinely more turned on by a camera than a dick.
Hahaha that’s just because they have massive egos, doesn’t make it untrue though ;)
But this isn’t a Latino context, this is the context of a French fashion house basing an entire collection around Argentina and gauchos.
The woman who owns Magaschoni (makers of luxury cashmere) used to make all the cashmere for JCrew. Not sure if that’s still the case, probably not given how much the quality of their cashmere has gone down.
Yup. I find their shit fits just like Gap, Banana Republic, etc. Shapeless. I really only like their sweaters and accessories for that reason, or shift dresses.
That’s the thing with JCrew - their stuff isn’t high enough quality for their prices so I’ll only ever buy something from there if it’s massively discounted. And never buy from their outlets because none of that crap is from their regular collection, it’s stuff they for extra cheap that they specifically only sell at…
Thing is Argentine is a noun borne out of an adjective, hence the extra ‘ine’ still being technically correct.
That’s bullshit, because you’re saying that appropriating someone’s culture doesn’t matter if the culture you’re appropriating is made up of mostly people who could pass for white. In which case, the term should be ‘racial appropriation’ rather than ‘cultural appropriation’.
Actually, though there is much debate as to which one is the correct term and in what context, both are correct and may be used interchangeably.
I know, I lived in South America for a while and have been to Argentina many times. But that still doesn’t answer my question of Jez’ selective cultural appropriation thing.
I think you should maybe find a better point to make or a different hill to die on than the whole keffir is a slur thing. Jezebel already tried it before if I’m not mistaken, and like ‘fetch’ it never caught on.
I’m curious what criteria Jez staff writers use to determine what’s cultural appropriation and what isn’t. Not that I’m complaining - if anything I’m pleasantly surprised by the absence of manufactured outrage in this piece.
Oh, that one. I really just mentally ignore them at this point, don’t even bother dismissing or flagging. The worst thing you can do to a troll is ignore it.
