Is anyone surprised by this? This kind of stuff happens all the time in the US (eharmony used to have lots of scammers).

Don't get me wrong, I use the iPad for more but I've looked at what I want/need over the nice to have and this new Kindle appears to do everything I need. I can't wait to see it released and rooted so we can see what it is truly capable of. That will be my deciding factor.

That is really good to know. I think the costumes may look a bit better when they do the post processing. Even the Batman costume doesn't look that great in daylight shots (meaning we may all be crying for nothing about Bane and Catwoman).

I have an iPad 2 and I've already told the wife I will probably wipe it and sell it with a jailbreak (getting back almost what I paid for it). Then I will turn around and buy two Kindle Fires and probably still have a little money left over.

If I had to guess, they are just doing the same approach as game system makers. They will lose a little on the hardware but make it up tenfold in software offerings. The number of sales from ebooks and movies alone, offered through Amazon, will probably go through the roof. Wouldn’t surprise me if they also hook in a

I was actually going to ask that in my original comment. I wasn't sure but was thinking maybe they did that. Thanks for clearing it up.

Hmmm... OK, maybe this is free only on the new kindles and the ones released last year (gen 3, which is what I currently have)? Can anyone confirm if this works on gen1 and gen2 models?

Everyone keeps saying this and again I ask, what kind of files are you talking about? You can email a number of files types totally free - I do it all the time (I am using wifi). I've never been charged a penny.

I have an iPad 2 and I am seriously considering a wipe/jailbreak/sell and buy two of these with the money I get (one for me and the wife).

No harm, no foul. I often convert epubs or other formats to .mobi with Calibre (a free tool) and then email them to my kindle email address. I "think" you may get charged with 3G for some things but if you are on wifi it is totally free.

I guess I'm confused... What kind of files are you talking about. If it is your own books, I send them to my kindle email address all the time - totally free.

Perhaps you've never used a Kindle with Special Offers...? The ads are totally unobtrusive. You only see them as the screensaver and the bottom of the main book selection screens. Never in an actual book or while reading.

I still have hope for Dark Knight Rises but is it just me or are too many of the shots being released filmed in the daytime? Specifically, too many with Batman and the other costumed folks out in the day. I think that is one of the reasons the costumes don’t look as good for the new villains because Batman just isn’t

FIRED! Leave now and never come back! Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Bingo.

No, no, no. That's Pulp Fiction.

"The B.F.G. (short for the Big Friendly Giant)" - That ain't what B.F.G. stands for.

I rarely ever post anything and used to check friends updates about once a day. I now check every three or four days, often not going back very far because so many folks post trivial items. I rarely ever use it to keep up with family or true friends because I actually talk to those people or sometimes email them

Totally agree. I complained on the "Rick Perry doesn't care if you die" post and I'm complaining here too. This kind of crap needs to stay off Giz. Interesting how both articles are by Kristen Philipkoski and posted under "Science"...

Repeat post.
