God, Heaven’s Gate was the fucking coolest. I was a senior in High School and we were on Spring Break during the Hale-Bopp comet. That’s a sophomoric truism. Greater economic freedom can include the freedom to pay any wage, the freedom to pollute, to employ children, to discriminate based on race, age, or disability, etc. etc.

Some time ago Washington Post and others ran stories about how many of the Tea Party’s strongest supporters were also the ones who benefited the most from government largess. It’s always been less about “free stuff” and more about making sure “those other, undeserving people” don’t get “free stuff.”
