It’s on holiday, and it’s wearing a very large woolly jumper.

Given the way this year is going, we’ll probably find out she likes throwing cute baby seals into an industrial shredder, or something.

This does not answer the most important question of all - what do Porgs taste like, and what’s the best way to cook them?

He sounds like a right petulant little prat.

Ah, where would we be without the faintly fascist, mildly autistic and generally rather creepy world of Silicon Valley? At least Lex Luthor has style and charisma.

...Plagge said that she and the other woman were told to sit and work in a glass conference room—“a fishbowl”—while IGN decided what to do. Then, Plagge said, she was forced to sign a document saying that she had conducted herself inappropriately, without being told what she had done.

It will be interesting to see where and when the first libel writs land.

As a rule, if you’re accused of something dodgy, the speed with which you issue a denial at least shows you’re worried about your reputation. (Whether that means you’re innocent is another discussion.)

One can’t help but feel this sort of rhetoric is the latter day equivalent of some lemon-sucking Scots Presbyterian minister demanding the alloted sinner be made to wear sackcloth and ashes. In any case, guilt through association is nonsense.

Now playing

In summary, the ‘ooh, I’m white and very guilty’ is an inversion (not a rejection) of white ‘specialness’. Whiteness is still central to the experience, but now it’s one of public breast-tearing and hand-wringing, like how advertisers use irony and self-deprecation, but only to bullshit you (and themselves) even more.

Perhaps she pulled the role off only too well?

As a cis, white lesbian, I have benefited and have the privileges I have, because of these extraordinary and courageous individuals who have led the way and risked their lives while doing so.

So, I think, there’s this part of Manji that wants to keep that distance, because he knows that this separation is what’s going to keep her safe, and maybe him safe.

She looks like a bi-polar primary school teacher trying to be down with the kids.

Both Marvel and DC, at their best, hire good writers and let them get on with it, editors used only when needed. If the comics side of the business knows how this works, why not the cinema division?

Sadly, all apocalypse storylines in comics end with one dreaded phrase:

I think Peter/Spiderman’s going to be reminded - painfully - that there are still some people you can’t help or save. And he’s just told him who his secret identity is.

That’s the thing - and which Cavill (politely) avoids directly saying. What ails almost all the DC movies is crap management. You can only do so much if the producer/director is the weak link. And you can’t rely on the execs to save them from themselves.

It’s so blatant, you have to wonder if that swollen carcass Weinstein is now clutching at straws.
